yes, i actually do enjoy coneferences [the above was chris btw!], but not when feeling stressed about feeding BB and nervous about returning to work as well as reluctant! After all, I am effectively restarting the job as only did it for 8 weeks, and the position cahnge from registrar to consultant a bit of a leap - to say the least. Especially as I got appointed as a young gun superdoc!

if it also hadn't been that we are stressing about moving, and seem to be haring around the country all the time, rather than the oasis of calm I had hoped for for my mat leave, a conference in glasgow would have been fun rather than 'one more thing'. To keep up my legitimate use of urogynaecologist, I have to attend one speciality conference a year. Not too onerous, except that BSUGS is when I am on hol in italy, and IUGA is in copenhagen, and ICS proper in montreal - and it is obvious what the flaws are in the last 2 destinations ! if the hosp shows willing, we may go to copenhagen though.

Also, i do do urogynae cos i find the subject fascinating - yes I do! and also challenging. Many of the established consultants are what you call 'personalities', and although some of the research so dire, the dingdong of debate and point scoring afterwards is entertaining [in a lion feeding kind of way for the uninvolved!] Also I have urogyn mates to chat and snigger with at the back.

it was just wrong time for this one really!

Conference was only two days, we are already back home. If life wasn't so hectic right now, and we weren't getting ready to move etc. we'd maybe have stayed the weekend. H didn't actually have to go to the conference, it was her choice, but did feel she needed to go to at least one this year. Sadly, hospital didn't get study leave money for it this time, so self funded, though seeing as she got a genrous amount last year can't really complain. We did go to the Science Centre today Joyce, we all really enjoyed it.

Mat leave ends/New job starts beginning of May - to soon :-(

Oh, if you are still in Glasgow, the Science Museum is very hands on, and worth a visit (but don't go up in the tower, as the last people who used it were stuck for about 13 hours). Or if the weather is nice, there is a fantastic (free) outdoor play area at the People's Palace at Glasgow Green.
