And as your offer is binding, you have to get a survey done before you bid. So you can spend a lot of money on surveys, and end up not getting the house. It also means that you can’t bid on more than one thing at a time, so you can end up missing out on things if the closing date is around the same time. Plus of course the fact that houses can go for anything up to about 40% over the actual asking price, so you end up viewing houses, and possibly even doing surveys, and incuring solicitors fees for offers, for a house where you don’t come near (and couldn’t afford to come near) the final price. But the plus side – none of this pissing about three weeks before your moving date. Shudder

End of March would have been better if they needed to do it at the end of a month, huh? Similar thing happened to us except the opposite way around, said we couldn’t complete during a particular week and lo and behold everyone fixed it for that week – grr. In the end it worked out okay – I’m sure yours will too, honest. So frustrating though, isn’t it?
