I wonder if I made you register at ours, then took Lije along to see C get hers done, if that would work?

Honestly, Poppy and Tilda, though seemingly ok about it beforehand, were awful. They've both seen me have blood taken millions of times and seen little sibs get jabbed no problem. Poppy threw a complete mental at her pre-school one, I just had to hold her arm still in the end whilst she screamed - and then admitted immediately afterwards that it hadn't hurt at all. Tilda got through the jabs, and then went ape at the bloody polio drops! (Just looked that up on my blog actually, and I wrote "next time I'll take my own sugar lumps" - someone remind me!)

I have gone before for the 'informed consent' route - the 'ignorance is bliss' option is appealing - take him in, in the summer perferably so he's only in a T shirt and just get jabbed before he knows what's going on - only drawback is the second one, lol! And of course the fact that he would then hate me ...

C has had the full schedule (inc. BCG, though I couldn't persuade them to let her have HepB (my major paranoia since I'm a non responder and was exposed to lots of blood in East London) that was when she was going to go to nursery full time at 3 months old and I was really worried about TB & HepB) - it isn't something that I've agonised over, I am sure she's safer vaxed. C hasn't minded any of them - she had a HIb booster last year & knows that she's due the MMR booster soon.

I have a horrible fear about an un-vaxed baby catching measles from older un-vaxed kids. Measles encephalitis terrifies me, SSPE is the stuff of nightmares.

helen btw.
LOL re hair brushing. though I can remeber me and my sister having a veruca, and getting the stuff out on, and then mumscraped it and dead skin off with a knife. I remember it being not painful, but my sister always screamed at her loudest 'don#t do it mummy, not the knife, please' and various other knife related screamings!
I got bored with my veruca in the end, and cut it out with razor blade - nor that *did* hurt!

Hannah is frighteningly matter of fact about having medical stuff done. She does her hypnosis, and then just closes her eyes and says "do it but don't let me see it or tell me what you are doing", and then puts her face in my neck till its over. However, I did ask her this morning if she had any tips, and her view was that you HAD to scream about something, so she made a fuss about hair combing, and maybe other children did it about jags. I'm not sure I quite follow her logic. But she does scream every morning when she gets her hair combed, accompanied by cries of "mummy mummy, please stop, don't do it to me again, I can't bear it", at full volume, and usually near an open window.
