ours are sort of categorised... bottom two shelves in the hall have educational type books on them grouped into science, maths, english, history, religion, languages, music, geography and workbook/activity books.

Tarly's room has all the picture books and things like lift the flaps, Davies' room has all the early reader type books, his Mr Men collection, all the Dr Seuss and all the 'story' books and chapter books.

There are three shelves of my books in the hall and two of photo albums (Ady gets the best of our photos printed off weekly at Costco) and baby books. System is not perfect and I am currently considering how it could be improved without actually getting more bookcases!

I keep thinking I *should* colour-code the kids' books (non-fiction anyway! The chapter books are in the big girls' room, in alphabetical order by author, and I don't mind not having a plan for the picture books ;-) ) - if only to encourage everyone else to put them back on the shelves in the right place :)

I think Jules has hers stickered :)
