well, I have just sent a form to a solicitor. I think at the mo, I would solicitor, as the thing I am worried about is what happens if we both die, so making it farily watertight, and if the whole lot of us do, a clear writing, so that it doesn't end up with someone I barely know. [horrible thought]

good news about nanny :)
Wills... yes, another thing that's been on my 'to do' list for the last decade. It's one of those jobs that seems so huge it never gets started. Can't even decide exactly where to start. DIY or solicitor? What do other people do?

Wow, weaning! Can't imagine we're anywhere near that with Shannon yet as she is still a 20x a day girl!
My vote for spending the money def. goes to something you wouldn't otherwise have got, like the trampoline.

also glad to hear little Nanny doing well - funny how sometimes other ppl's relatives seem more real than my own! Certainly hear more about yours.

Wills, mine is straightforward, but Tim's is not - must get it sorted.

Agree with Sarah that being listened to and feeling like at least you've been heard makes a big difference.

Your day sounds lovely, I partiuclarly love reading blogs when I can picture so well what it all looked like because I know the house and people being written about :)

My vote for the money would be on either the laptop getting fixed which is sort of practical and I always think that unexpected 'windfalls' should go on things which are not just practical and shouldn't just get sucked up in everyday living expenses - my laptop was part paid for by money left to Ady by his Grandmother. Or something very frivilous that you couldn't normally afford - a lovely trip out, a piece of jewellry or in your case a trampoline sounds ideal. Something that will remind you of the person who left the money and is a fitting tribute. Paying a chunk off a credit card only qualifies if it would mean you had more money per month generally and it would therefore make life better. My parents had been told by John (the man who was married to my Granny and died last year who's funeral I spoke at) that he was leaving 'everything' to me and my brother years ago. Personally I didn't expect anything - and indeed his will had since been changed and my brother and I didn't get anything but if I had it would have been spent on something 'quality of life enhancing'.

Sounds like a good day. Glad to hear that Little Nanny has got company for a week. And good that your chief exec listened to you, as well - sometimes just feeling understood can be a huge help, even if it doesn't actually change anything.

And yes, to the will thing - which reminds me again that we must do ours too.
