yes, I’m feeling stingy too – so would rather go to 1/4 than 1/8 as a step up – but I guess I’ll just have to go with the teacher’s recommendation. Think SB is a fair bit taller than Joe, yes – I suppose we might get a year out of an 1/8 but who knows. Would love to see a piccie whenever you next have a chance.

she stands better with the bigger violin, and it looks more the right size. the bow is all over the place though!
so yes, it is quite a difference. i was too stingy to contemplate a 1/8. and i think SB is taller than Joe?
we could get a photo – perhaps – for comparison [will leave that to chris as I am leaving home [but only till wed!]

interesting – have been discussing next size up violins here today as well. Joe is on 1/10 and I really don’t want to buy an 1/8 before a 1/4, but worried his teacher will want him on an 1/8 for a while – did it seem a big jump from the 1/10 to the 1/4? Suzuki are renowned for keeping kids on smaller violins I’ve heard …

Violin looks gorgeous, and good price too! Well spotted. can quite imagine SB being impressed with it! I’m sure that you’ll get used to the less than mellow sound soon enough (and anyway, “this too will pass” and she’ll be onto bigger and mellower ones in a year or two!)

Have a nice sleepover, I like the sound of all the veggie garden stuff. And the new violin sounds very pretty.
