Well, I can think of worse things for them to want money spent on. We do stick though to only buying strawbs etc. in their UK season (both costs and quality - imported strawbs are generally rubbish) Even bette rof course, when ours in are ready in the garden, we produce more than they want to eat.. I can usually deflect the desires onto something a bit more reasonably priced when neccessary.

Peas in the pods always seem expenisve, these were just more so, I think probably becuase the end amount seems small in comparison. And sometimes a bit disappointing to eat, I think peas are one of those things that really are best fresh from the plant - I think the sugars must convert to starch or something. Probably why frozen peas are generally so good.

Clo gets me on the strawberries, raspberries, blackberries that sort of thing and I waver between fruit and vitamins and the cost of it all.

She wins.

She also loves the peas from the pod. She memorably ate the entire bowl at Grit's house once. Now I'm feeling guilty as didn't know they were really pricey. Hope it was in season when she ate them.
