wednesday!

yesterday at worked turned out to be one of those little bit excessive days. anyhoo… the girls and chris had a great day. lots of HE stuff done, and ballet prac. swimming as well.

rabbits are happy and lively. today we brought them into the conservatory for a run around, and they thought that was v novel! suggested to SB that she could do her home ed in there with them in a morning, so that they all stay friendly with each other. the 2 rabs are obviously v happy companions currently, but teenage hormones have yet to set in. [we plan to neuter them]

a latinetc day today – woohoo as had missed last one due to appalling migraine. K had the group migraine this time. almost always one of us! we did light, mirrors, rainbows and discussed newton and recreated his experiments. more luck with the youngest group as light best for them. had them running about being different speed light waves, talked about amplitude and frequency. think it went ok. they did some french i think with k, and def some latin, and music theory with G and SB did some clarinet too. fair bit of playing for kids and chatting for adults. on the way there we always listen to french cds, and getting a bit bogged down with this one second cd, tho we stil enjoy chanting the numbers! however the collins french is being enjoyed!

we had a play in the park and then came home, bb and i read another book [1+ level] woohoo!! and SB did some science about habitats [she loves] and SoTW 3 about james 1 [also loves!] BB had a parcel – she had won a DK book about dinosaurs from the dinomite magazine she gets. she was grumpy that it wasn’t the lego…

this eve SB had brownies and judo, BB mostly ran around madly being a knight on a horse, and we watched shrek 3 and played with bunnies.

thats all folks…

our 2 rabbits! snowy and skittles

weekend catchup!

this weekend has been internet free for me. parents here, busy being busy etc etc!!
somewhat relieved to see that i got to thursday on last blog!

things what have been occurring:

both rabbits settled in – will put up a pic of snowy when i get round to it! once snowy happy to be here, have gradually been introducing her to skittles. after lots of side by side runs, swapping over to get each other’s scents, we tried them together. skittles made a dash for snowy, who ran away, looked scared and thumped. so that was short and sweet! but the next eve they were far more friendly, racing around the room. still a fair bit of skittles chasing, but some nose rubbing etc. so the next day we popped them in a run together, where space much more compressed. skittles ‘very affectionate’ towards snowy, v repeatedly. need to make sure def both girls! anyway, since then far more time together, and seem happy for now. apparently things can go pair shaped both if we neuter them and if we don’t, but at least for now seems ok!

parents visited! my parents arrived thurs eve and stayed till mon am. lovely for the girls to spend time with them. lots of playing games, talking, hugging. dad did a fair bit of work in the garden, and with mum in charge of the girls whilst i was at work, chris did some of the window work!!

oh yes, home ed! well, this blog is on a home ed ring! SB did an excellent day of home ed with mum. can’t remember exactly what, but included music theory and writing a story. mum gets to see at first hand the idiosyncratic spelling, but also how well SB can work [did prime her to do her best tho!] and a 2 page story! BB did some more reading, painting and playing.

on sat we visited my sister at centreparcs. well, me, mum and the girls! dad was gardening and chris windowing. met up in the pool, and i took charge of Em and BB whilst M and SB shot around rapids and slides etc. sis didn’t feel up to coming in the pool, some mum and B-I-L took turns to keep her entertained. def far more crowded than jan! lovely seeing her on her special weekend, and the kids all had a ball!! time just as always felt too short, and too much to leave unsaid…

SB had a quick turnaround as dropped over for brownies sleepover, which she really enjoyed. the ‘owl’ she finds difficult wasn’t there – so much better. tho she was v v tired when i picked her up!

a chilled sunday, lots of rabittiness, playing, reading of books to kids [as both overtired and overexcited!] and the playing alhambra with mum and dad!

mon i returned to work, and parents went to uncle reggies funeral. it turns out that we knew even less about him than imagined. he had a full regalia masonic lodge thing. in the eve SB had both ballet and then judo grading, and she has gone up to her next belt – woohoo SB!

another rabs joins the family

this eve BB got to finally bring home her rabs. from the brief hello we have had, it is skittish, speedy, poops everywhere and v hairy! and white. she is delighted. hmm, SB’s rabs is kinda litter trained, so maybe why not so poopy, and seems to be more of a lollopper than the high speed snowy. must get a pic!

today SB and I both got up late. i am struggling at sleeping again, which doesn’t help. not insomnia tho, as head hits pillow and i am out, but i wake with the sun and then doze in and out. so with a bedtime usually after midnight, just not getting enough zzzz’s!

both girls are getting into dreadful habits of falling asleep as late as their parents, even when in bed 9-ish [we are aiming for 8.30] so are consequently grouchy like their parents, and SB getting up late. this is having a number of knock on effects, so we are going to have to ‘do something’.

however, on the good news front, SB was commended at ballet for having improved. she has not done any further ballet practice tho, so need to step up my cajoling!

wonderful friend filled weekend

well, the election is still looking pretty undecided isn’t it. i hate to be admitting i am hoping for an uneasy pairing with conservatives!

this weekend we had a tidying frenzy start – well, ok, not so much!! but we made the playroom more or less safe for skittles to run around in. cutie rabbit!! we then were invitied to Ams birthday treat, and some comedic moments trying to coordinate that with our weekend guests. Brightkite and friends to the rescue! so we and kirsty and family made it to the bowling alley to meet merry and family for what turned out to be great fun bowling. it is safe to say that most of us were on the hopeless side, and that rails saved the day!! [kirsty is a bolwing dark horse btw!] thanks to the puddles for an unexpected party that was fun all round.

we had an emergency pizza tea [i overcatered!] and then the grown ups nattered untill way late, and the kids stayed up to 1am! [in the bedrooms] and were therefore pretty tired the next day!! some wii-ing, lots of sylvanianing, pretending BB was a pet dog etc etc!

next day i got up late  we had pancake brunch, kids still doing similar games, and then we went geocache walking, and finally dropped off our 2 holiday travel bugs, and picked up a different one! lovely walk tho. camp curry for tea, SB nearly fell asleep mid walk upstairs, and BB, having had a mid eve nap, is currently still awake!

thanks v much for visiting us kirsty and james! was great.

May day weekend

1st of may, little nanny’s birthday. i miss her greatly. i last saw her last year for her birthday, and she died just over a month later. i miss her dreadfully. Her brother reggie missed her too, and somewhat curiously, died on her birthday this last weekend. he had a difficult life, and lots of it will remain a family mystery, but i don’t feel sadness at his passing. I feel great sadness at the loss of that generation, my nanny and her eccentric brothers and sisters – and they were all eccentric, as were their spouses. A huge loss, focused with the loss of little nanny, whom i still miss.

but we continued the plan of a norfolk holiday on the may bank, and shared it with friends. we were so very lucky as the weather was predicted to be awful, and it really wasn’t. though hail wasn’t quite so welcome! most of the rain was at night, the wind was quite blustery – made putting up the tarp more tricky! love our khyam tent tho. so, we had some new camping equipment. the benches and tables set 9/10

the cooking stand also worked well. poss 7/10 as slightly too tall, but only negative.
sat we put up and chatted. lovely to have le ciel rouge team added to camping buddies! very much happy to have! my girls both v keen to try and meet up more regularly. also long term favourites! jax and co, michelle and family, nic, and for a one night only special deal… deependers! [in our guest wing]

sat was mostly chatting, meeting, greeting and just being friendly! [in the sun, so i went and bought suncream, and apparently doomed us all] the kids running around the very safe campsite and playing in the park and feeding goats or buying penny chews! we didn’t stay up too late, as it started to get nippy. i expounded on the importance of tent hats and socks [as modelled beautifully by myself and michelle] so noticed both nic and zoe the next night were more suitably attired

the next day, after a lazy, meandering, chatty start, we went to the RNLI museum as proposed by michelle [who didn't make it and got sunburnt in her car!] myself and BB went round, and found a lot to interest her, and chris and SB, with the other 2 manor borns went round in a bit more depth… a nice pitstop in the lovely cafe and back to the campsite where the deependers had arrived, and with them fab kebabs for tea – yummy!

the next day we went to bewilderwood. it was fab and exceeded expectation. our jolly chappie who welcomed us was a good start, followed by jolly boatman. both girls had lots of things to love and do, and- drumroll – iwent up and over the high bridge, and it wasn’t too bad at all!! SB got to play moss in the play, and very much enjoyed that. she and chris mostly stayed together, and BB and i. the hail was annoying, but we hid in the craft yurt! BB particularly loved the baby zipwire and slides. a great time!

we went wrong on the way past, and went via st faiths, where little nanny was cremated. i shed a few tears, but better by time back at campsite. another laid back evening, and lots of political discussion later.

a late and lazy leave time on tues, wed was migraine city and knocked out, today bb at nanna’s

bringing us to today [sort of] and here i am, awaiting election results
