i would love that post! thankyou for reading the epic post and commenting caroline. hoping that joining the new blogring will also get back a community blogging feel! we are stuggling sourcing french/italian. what i want is an audiocd course that has a parallel textbook and workbook, but you seem to get ether cd with pdf or v boring leaflet book or a txtbook with audio snippets of no use on their own. any recommendations?

Great post ~ albeit EPIC! I promised I would comment here, so I am (even if it's a bit later).

I am in awe of all you fit into your lives and all that you provide for SB (and I'm sure that much again for BB). It sounds like she is having a ball :D

With regards the lonely 2ndry journey ~ I'm with you there! It's not been easy to source and find stuff that works and I'm sure I have wasted a few ££ along the way on resources we will never pick up again. But I think what we have now works for us (she says hopefully). We tried the GP History and English books, but they've never really been a hit here. We did persist with for a good while, but have laid them down this year in favour of a slightly less prescriptive approach (deep breath in). Would it help if I did a 'this what we've used and this what we use now' kind of post? Might help you pick up something of value. Science wise you are strides ahead of us though. That's a shame for Phoebe as she enjoys Science, but my others don't get their heads around it terribly well and seem to dislike Biology quite vehemently, which is difficult, as it's the only Science I really know much about (having never studied Physics or Chem' at school past the VERY basics).

Obviously our H'Ed is a lot more home-based and table-based because it has sort of evolved that way to meet the needs of us all, but the children do still have a fairly strong say in how 'school' looks for them day-to-day and what resources we use, individually and as family. Also we are not heading down the exam route at all because it is completely unaffordable to us, so we will be exploring those 'alternative routes' you spoke of and seeing where we get to ~ hopefully that will be where the children want to go!

Of course next year I will hopefully have one son heading to college, so will have completed one 'turn' of 2ndry Home-Ed' ~ that has to count for something (I hope)! I will be blogging his journey into Further Education via a non-exam route, so that might be worth following :D

Perhaps I'll do that post ~ I'm sure you won't be the only curious reader!

we're borrowing GP Spanish to see if we like it. What does she not like about the French? Alex is also wanting to do GP geography, which I bought ages ago and was thinking of selling, but she wants to try it so we will.

thankyou :) . SB is easy to cater for, as as long as she is interested in the subject she is quite happy. she is quite clear about the type of books she likes best, and obv does more of some things than others and some of these things are quite rare but she likes to occassionally do a bit - her week isn't strapped to a desk!
her least fav is galore park french - she prefers the skoldo - and the galore park geography, so these only get a look occasionally :) tho she is going to do them a bit this year to see if she can break the 'french block'
it is always nice to see that even tho i think we spend lots of time daydreaming, going out and about etc, playing etc that we do move on! I have no idea what they do in schools that takes so long!

well done for writing it all out! Sounds fab, and I think you are all doing really well. SB sounds like she is interested in everything you are trying which is the main thing (and what I struggle with!)
