Christmas tree hasn’t looked quite right, just not enough lights. So bought another set of 250 lights today and put them on (bit of a faff with the decs on) now it looks much more twinkly and sparkley and magical – much better
Note they are just static clear lights – this a tasteful understated tree you know, none of your chasers, flashers and other illuminatory abominations here………
Of course we do have two other non working sets of lights, but;
1. can we find the spare bulbs we have somewhere?
2. among the innumerable bublbs in the shops can I find just the right variety of fitting/voltage/wattage?
Twinkle, sparkle, twinkle, sparkle……..
Tasteful, understated ………. ANOTHER 250 lights ……… hmm.
well, rather amazingly, he did actually remove the others – I would have just had them all blaring forth. It looks great. the not so working ones I am going to get him to tangle round the grape vine . In full spanish finca tastefulness!
I only removed the small LV set of which half weren’t working anyway, left the others on there
250! We have a set of 20 … and it does seem a bit underlit but then again we decided that was good as the tree is near the projector screen, couldn’t have too much light near that! Next year I will buy more though, if we have another big tree.
We only have a 5 ft tree, but it has 180 lights on it, in three sets, 2 plain and 1 coloured. I do like a bit of a twinkle.
sounds just perfect joyce!
Have you tried Wilkinsons for the bulbs? I had to get some spares and they had a selection in there. So much so I had to buy one set of each kind because I didn’t know which ones I was supposed to get LOL!
lol, so do we have updated photos?
Ours is now standing in the front room, but it’s not getting decorated until tomorrow It’s blooming enormous – I went for the 200-225cm range ones, as I wanted it taller than me, but not ridiculously large, but it’s actually about 8′ (244cm) – dunno where they measure to then? It does have a few inches of clearance before the ceiling luckily …
we wanted 8 foot, but they ran out. our camera not so brill at trpiod requiring shots – and a bit grainy, so we binned last nights. will try again
Actually i think ours looks about right – and it had nice bushy bottom.
Sarah – 20 lights????? I did consider just buying an extra set of 150, but oddly, the wattage of the bulbs in the bigger set was higher (so presumably a bit brighter) and anyway it’s much better value and much twinklier
Sally, nearest Wilko’s is in the middle of twon 10 miles away and tend not to go there that often. I found plenty of bulbs, that wasn’t the problem, it’s just the variety of fittings means that the right sort wasn’t there. Guess it deopends which chinese factory they source the lights from.
