1st of may, little nanny’s birthday. i miss her greatly. i last saw her last year for her birthday, and she died just over a month later. i miss her dreadfully. Her brother reggie missed her too, and somewhat curiously, died on her birthday this last weekend. he had a difficult life, and lots of it will remain a family mystery, but i don’t feel sadness at his passing. I feel great sadness at the loss of that generation, my nanny and her eccentric brothers and sisters – and they were all eccentric, as were their spouses. A huge loss, focused with the loss of little nanny, whom i still miss.
but we continued the plan of a norfolk holiday on the may bank, and shared it with friends. we were so very lucky as the weather was predicted to be awful, and it really wasn’t. though hail wasn’t quite so welcome! most of the rain was at night, the wind was quite blustery – made putting up the tarp more tricky! love our khyam tent tho. so, we had some new camping equipment. the benches and tables set 9/10
the cooking stand also worked well. poss 7/10 as slightly too tall, but only negative.
sat we put up and chatted. lovely to have le ciel rouge team added to camping buddies! very much happy to have! my girls both v keen to try and meet up more regularly. also long term favourites! jax and co, michelle and family, nic, and for a one night only special deal… deependers! [in our guest wing]
sat was mostly chatting, meeting, greeting and just being friendly! [in the sun, so i went and bought suncream, and apparently doomed us all] the kids running around the very safe campsite and playing in the park and feeding goats or buying penny chews! we didn’t stay up too late, as it started to get nippy. i expounded on the importance of tent hats and socks [as modelled beautifully by myself and michelle] so noticed both nic and zoe the next night were more suitably attired
the next day, after a lazy, meandering, chatty start, we went to the RNLI museum as proposed by michelle [who didn't make it and got sunburnt in her car!] myself and BB went round, and found a lot to interest her, and chris and SB, with the other 2 manor borns went round in a bit more depth… a nice pitstop in the lovely cafe and back to the campsite where the deependers had arrived, and with them fab kebabs for tea – yummy!
the next day we went to bewilderwood. it was fab and exceeded expectation. our jolly chappie who welcomed us was a good start, followed by jolly boatman. both girls had lots of things to love and do, and- drumroll – iwent up and over the high bridge, and it wasn’t too bad at all!! SB got to play moss in the play, and very much enjoyed that. she and chris mostly stayed together, and BB and i. the hail was annoying, but we hid in the craft yurt! BB particularly loved the baby zipwire and slides. a great time!
we went wrong on the way past, and went via st faiths, where little nanny was cremated. i shed a few tears, but better by time back at campsite. another laid back evening, and lots of political discussion later.
a late and lazy leave time on tues, wed was migraine city and knocked out, today bb at nanna’s
bringing us to today [sort of] and here i am, awaiting election results
was lovely to see you. Didn’t realise I was bucking the trend by failing to wear a hat!
yeah, but you had a hot water bottle on your lap…
