  1. you poor poor person – kids all most upset and have been asking about you all afternoon :(

    Lots of gentle hugs.

(PS, hope not photo taking or hama-ing arm ;) )

  2. Aargh, Helen! what have you done ? Much sympathy to you.

  3. rofl! no non-dominant arm.
    can’t work though

  4. Bloody Hell Helen! How on earth did you do it?? Hope you are ok apart from the bloody nightmare of it. Can I swear on here?? Gwenny’s favourite swear word if not :-).

Man flu will have to go now- he’s had it too long anyway! You can sit on the sofa and watch him at work :-)

  5. I dunno, i’d quite like a semi-helpless consultant i think ;)
Appreciate surgery might be tricky though. Bad break or quick to fix?

  6. an unusual break apparently, right through the radial head at the joint, so not suitable for pot/plaster as I have to excercise it. might need to have flakes of bone aspirated though, so a recheck at 3 weeks. bugger. off work till then. shame 2 of those 3 weeks already off.

  7. Well hooray to being off work! It’s an ill wind ….. etc etc. Hope it doesn’t hurt too much.

  8. ow – sounds very similar to how I broke mine as a teenager, wasn’t allowed pot either. be thinking of you.

  9. oh bugger and bollocks then :(

  10. You’re not supposed to do that on your holiday! Poor you, hope it’s not too painful.

  11. What a nightmare! Hope it heals well.

  12. Oh no, Helen – adding my sympathy. Glad you can still blog though ;)

  13. been thinking of you all night (while feeding josie *rolls eyes*) and hoping you didn;’t have too awful a night :(

  14. fairly awful. not helped by bb having family lurgy

  15. (((Helen))) I thought that if you are off sick even if you have booked holidays the sick leave takes precedent and you should still be owed your two weeks holiday? I would check it with personnel Dept. Get well soon.

  16. Now there’s a thought. Hope Karen is right!

  17. She is – that’s NHS policy, but you need to get a dr sick line (not a self cert), in pdq.

  18. Get that note in first thing Monday Helen!

  19. ah, got the sick form on sat – signed by a consultant – and gave to the dept, so will follow it up with an eamail and hope!

  20. very gentle hugs from me and Tim sends huge amounts of sympathy/empathy for the non-castable break….. he recommends comfrey oil massaged all round it.

  21. Helen, so sorry to hear about your arm. Re your comment on 2 of your 3 weeks you were already off, Karen & Joyce are quite right they can’t make you take holiday time while off sick and it applies to everyone not just NHS.
I hope you are not in too much pain and wish you much speedy healing.

  22. Oooh Helen poor you! Hope you can reclaim that holiday, take care

  23. Ouch, sounds very painful. How on earth did you manage to do it?! I guess time off work isn’t too bad but I bet you have a nervous twitch everytime the girls come near it in case they hurt it more! Lots of pain free vibes.
