Day 2 – urrgggh!

New baby – day 2 – she is lovely, gradually losing her squashed birth face, when she was born she looked a bit like a Klingon or possibly a Schnauzer in Helen’s opnion – she had such a furrowed brow- when she cries she turns an amazing red colour – almost all over, not just her face, but legs etc. as well.

Had a dreadful night with her though – she is getting the idea of feeding, but Helen isn’t producing much milk yet, so leaves her a bit unsettled Whatever, the reason she didn’t settle. Eventually at about 4-5 am I got up with her just to give Helen a chance of a few hours rest as she was just fussing with her all the time, and just crying with me. Stringbean was a pain in those first 6-8 weeks, I hope this doesn’t mean Butterbean will be as well. I will have to try and avoid reading how well Josie is doing at night over on

New baby, new blog

Well, the arrival of Alys aka Butterbean, our new daugter, seems like as good time to start as any. She eventually arrived:

Alys looking cute

2 weeks late, Helen was induced so no homebirth :-( – but did the home from home unit, with a nice big bath/pool, labour progressed so quickly I only just got back in time (born about 20 minutes after I got there, much to our surprise). Anyway, she is gorgeous :-) Home quickly as we could – born 00.22 a.m., home by about 10.00 a.m

So she joins our first daughter Elinor – aka Stringbean, as we stagger from one life event to another…..

Stringbean has been very excited about the baby for ages – she used to talk to it through mum’s belly button. She truly is her mothers daughter – pretty much the first thing she said when we brough Butterbean home was ‘can I take a photo’ :-) – do we take the odd photo of her I wonder…..?
