transistors and fimo

woke up with my brain obviously 2 sizes to big for skull, from the amount of pounding to escape that was going on. so decided that really only option was to swig pills and collapse in bed, which I did. A rather bad day to be off sick really but can’t be helped. i eventually surfaced at 2-ish, not feeling brill, but BB very insistent.

So read books, SB and BB did lots on the ‘puter. SB had done some maths earlier. SB and BB going through an awkward phase of shrieking, screaming and wailing at each other. not good for mummy’s with migraines.

got them set up with painting, and then went for some more quiet option. Then to GP’s for hosp referral. When I returned, to bring tranquility, I thought we could do the brainbox electronic kit. not quite so tranquil as SB chose to make the transistor radio, and there was a fair bit of shrieking argument over who was going to build each bit. But they did mostly do it cooperatively, and it worked. we then turned it into what SB called ‘half a telephone’ and took turns being the shouter or listener. rather cool kit.

BB seems to have a particular fascination with making things work and joining them together. I guess that we didn’t have the same toy around for SB at her age, and she had lots of fun with happy street, train tracks etc so i can’t compare. But she does seem to have? joy in making things work.

a quick tidy up and dinner, then when BB collapsed asleep, SB and i did fimo.? together. she wanted to make things to sell, and has done lots of twiddle things. so this time we made coasters and decorated a jar. Bedtime, reading and now prison break.

oh, and Chris has brought back some fish for our pond

a merry day

chris played gallant hero and networked up a system. girls played. adults chatted. lovely day, and i left with empty hands for a change. this month just too expensive, what with parties, kelmarsh, new washing machine, car insurance etc. have an xmas list!!

rahter laughingly, we got home with SB complaining she didn’t do any fimo, so we had a fimofest last night. I made a keyring for a friend’s leaving present. Both girls donelots of reading. SB ate 12 mini spring rolls – we were all really hoping for one.

back to 21st century, and off to Woburn

an early start to the day for the girls, as off out with the Grandparfents on a church mum’s trip to woburn. they all loved it. from BB badly steering a swan boat, to them both having fun in the ark adventure bit. they loved seeing the elephants and the lions, but keen to see all the animals. both have come back with chattering monkeys – lovely!

obviously that eased the descent from such a sociable weekend! SB has been trying to read the books that i was showing jax for big. [as has bb comically] and BB has had great fun playing with happy street.

SB is back in a Robin Hood phase, and also into rainforests [sparked no doubt by the magic tree house]

Castle day/ weekend

we had a lovely time, thankyou everyone for coming. I can’t say that it was totally stressfree, but at the point that everyone had eaten, the kids and adults where obviously happy, I could begin to relax.

i loved SB’s welcome poster and goodbye poster by the door. Thanks T-bird for helping me out on the friday, and the multiple helpers on the sat when I had loads to do, and BB and B both decided to have complete wobblies about the whole thing! In fact, BB wobbled so much I had to take my dress off [Merry wore it] and wear a demure version of a wench outfit!!

The weather was with us – which was great, and loads of friends near and far came. Actually, at the end SB said there had been so many friends there that she hadn’t been able to play with them all properly, and we need to arrange to see them again.

I think Chris did a fab job with the castle. The crafts seemed to work well. The children were rather frightening in their mob mentality with the severed head pinatas. No major injuries despite much sword waving! Admirable mention to Vix making traditional mediaeval fayre – particularly the cabbage pottage, which I think only Michelle and I tasted, and is presently adding to the compost bin, and the interesting sweet spinach pie! The piggies were a def hit though.

So yes, it was a fab day, surrounded by friends, and I might even do something similar again. Didn’t take too many flickr photo’s as busy ‘doing’ but I see my friends have made up for this. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

Relaxed evening as there was lots of clearing up help. and a good nights sleep.

Today had the usual wail quotient from far too tired children, but they muddled through for a bit, and the brainbox science saved the day really

my daemon is a snow leopard

stupid bloody thing. i cant get it to work

email me or leave comment with a working email for me to use, if you fancy changing it!!

busy busy busy

full working day today.

when came home, t-bird and Aprillia just arrived – girls immed wild!!

Did baking – scones and veggie sausage rolls, and painted the pinata’s – alord and lady with severed heads.

need to cut out crowns!

getting ready

long day at work today, but lovely welcome home. we have an alarm across the drive, so you can hear someone approaching the door – helpful as the bell doesn’t work! Anyway, the point of this is that before i had even got the handbreak on, BB had opened door and dashed out, and as I opened the car door she dived in a gave me the most lovely of hugs, telling me she loved me. I was v happy!!

Came indoors to similar welcome from SB – more happiness. The BB wailed and screamed because she wanted to do painting and chris was about to dish up dinner. she got over it and had fav dinner – ken hom!

SB had a breakdown after dinner as we were discussing what she might want to wear on sat. she doesn’t want to be a princess, she wants me to make her something in the 2 remaining evening. t-bird could do it [thanks!!] I did the angelina grovel grovel! SO I say, well what do you want, I can do mediaeval page tabard or crusader tabard and helmet. No she doesn’t want to be a boy. OKAY. so what – adapt a dress as maid marion – no. SO we look through lots of mediaeval and castle and tudor books. None of them, though some of the dresses look like her belle dress – so they do. SO, I suggest she doesn’t need to be a princess, but a rich lady in that, and we consider whether we might make a headdress. Stare at said books again, and we opt for a katherine howard french hood. SO some more discussion on adapting it, and it is now made. we chose material and how to make it, and SB happilly glued way too many jewels on it, and is now v happy. i giggled that she is wearing underalls [her phrase] as the dress is itchy. and was impressed when she said it wasn’t realistic because the sleeves weren’t detachable. see, something goes in!

bB got v waily, so fell asleep quickly. SB was in bed by 10 [oops] i have come downstairs to make 2 papier mache heads which will be v weak pinatas – perhaps!!

am way behind on the tasks though – quelle surprise! If t-bird arriving early, I am sure Aprillia and SB can catch up on a few of them – might leave a list!!

hmm

You are The Tower

Ambition, fighting, war, courage. Destruction, danger, fall, ruin.

The Tower represents war, destruction, but also spiritual renewal. Plans are disrupted. Your views and ideas will change as a result.

The Tower is a card about war, a war between the structures of lies and the lightning flash of truth. The Tower stands for “false concepts and institutions that we take for real.” You have been shaken up; blinded by a shocking revelation. It sometimes takes that to see a truth that one refuses to see. Or to bring down beliefs that are so well constructed. What’s most important to remember is that the tearing down of this structure, however painful, makes room for something new to be built.
