New baby, new bike

We have got Stringbean a new bike – an early xmas present really, – we have told her it is a present from her sister. The bike is lovely – it does have the essential Bean accessory of a dolly seat of course. But even though she always said that she wanted a pink and purple bike, sometimes we fell we have to fight against the pink obsession, so we got one in yellow and red – it was according to her ‘ just what she wanted’. She was really excited to get it, it was a great moment.

She has just had trikes until now, so not sure about riding a bike – we were going to go up to Golden Acre Park so she could ride it aroiund there somewhere flat – since she’s done the circuit of the lake on her trike. Sadly it started to rain as soon as we gave her the bike – so we played on the drive for a bit, but she’s not to confident with the brakes yet – I’ll try taking her out with it later in the week.

So Helen and Stringbean did some Hama beading – we were going to have a go at some of Merry’s xmas patterns . I printed them off but that was about it. Before bed, she developed her DIY skills by helping me screw down loose and creaking floorboards, and helping me saw up a new board to fit. Beware small girls weilding large saws :-)

  1. Don’t worry about the pink obsession, it goes…eventually! India wouldn’t wear much else, and specifically wanted Barbie on everything. Now she’s recently 11, wears lots of dark colours and likes Marilyn Manson. Just wanted to give you something to look forwards to ;oD

  2. lol @ June!
Poppy swaps between ‘pink princess’ and ‘camou’ed mercenary’ with astonishing ease :) Matilda bypassed the pink thing and has gone straight onto the ‘anything with a skull on it, preferably in black’ stage (which my stepMIL is finding a little hard to swallow!).

And I love small kids with screwdrivers – too cute, *and* useful!

  3. Actually yes, Trinity bypassed the pink stage too – she went straight to the glittery/sparkly/rhinestone clad stage, which is much harder to deal with in fact. Unless you like living with a child that wants to look like a cross between Liberace and a…well…you get the picture!
