Got back home from Xmas Wednesday night, but not blogged yet.
But I just had to share this lovely photo that I managed to take of Alys over the break. It’s probably the best photo of the either of the girls I’ve taken. (looks even better as an 8×10 print)

She is gorgeous
And yeah, the photo’s good too - what type of camera do you use, Chris? Steve has said I can upgrade my camera soon so I’m on the lookout for recommendations …

Thanks everyone (of course for the one lovely photo there were many duff ones….). Sarah, the photo was taken with a Canon A80 digital camera. The photo was colour, I turned it into black and white, using Photoshop Elements 3. she has had a cold recently, and has varius dry bits of ’stuff’ on her face. I did do a little retouching to remove them, but not to alter the physical features. Shot with natural light cropped in close, I just managed to get some nice light (late afternoon winter sun soon setting - coming from the side) and A didn’t pull any stupid faces

I’d recommend any Canon Powershot (my G3 is one) and I had another one before that which was excellent. At the mo - I am saving (ha, ha) for a digital SLR (a canon). The A95 looks pretty good, I think the A80 is discontinued but probably pick it up on ebay.
Like the photo….though it doesn’t look quite in focus

Yeah, I’m generally very happy with the A80. My main complaint would be that in images where there is bright backlight, or well highlighted areas of apicture it gets rather over exposed. It is pretty much in focus, but it could have done with more depth of field. The main part of the face - nose, eyes etc. are sharp, but the edge of side of the face isn’t

I had a couple of Olympus cameras and they were much worse on the overexposure problem.

Fantastic shot. DP has a digital SLR, and it will be coming to Melrose. Its his favourite subject atm so he is very happy to play
(he’s found a couple of ’sites where you can post you pictures and get comments on them, and leave comments for others, so its just as well for blogs etc. as it gives me something to do; lol!!
