now you’re making me feel bad – so glad to get girls out of car seats! Just waiting until Joe is big enough to do without one now. New car with side impact airbags instead??!! I know a good car dealer …
sorry, that was no help whatsoever was it? i don’t know the answer, I’m afraid!

We’ve just bought a graco one for C which is just a booster seat, but there is an alternative version which comes with a back you can take off when she no longer needs it.

LOL Sarah!! I’m rather paranoid about crashes. wish I had bought the forward backward thing for SB though, rather than squeezing her into first carseat for so long – not poss with BB, too big already. When you have a pink mercedes A class in, let me know!!!

ha! not sure they do them in pink. I have always wanted a Honda Jazz for the very reason that you can get pink ones, but Steve says they’re not particularly saleable – I wonder why?!!

We have the mamas and papas ones with the back, I have had two crashes, both times I have had serious whiplash and both times neither child has suffered AT ALL and the seats have been checked over and been perfect. Mine have been in this from 9 months until 5 years then onto just a booster. Next year I believe they are bringing in a new law about extendin the age a child must be in a seat. I was stopped by a copper and told off for not having Pea on a booster at age 6- we’d left hers in Tony’s car. I’m paranoid too but with my accident record I think I have just cause.

I recommend this one from Mothercare http://www.mothercare.com/invt/lt4717&bklist=icat,5,shop,shotravelpushchairs,tracarseats,carboosters
I have been looking at it for Kennedy, it has had a good write up in some mag I read recently too.

Both our booster boys have the recaro seats which are aluminium framed. They have side impact, extend upwards, width ways, recline and have a cool socket you can plug the gameboy/ personal cd player into so it comes out of speakers in their head rest so we don’t have to all suffer! I know people rate the britax kid though if thats any help

Sally, that socket thing sounds absolutely excellent!

Hi Helen
We bought Britax Trio’s for the boys. They’re suitable from 9 months to 11 years and adapts as the child gets older. The first stage being with attached harness, then moves up to using car seat belts, then finally you take off the back and it becomes a booster.

The Recaro Start gets a lot of awards and you can get footrests and other add-ons to mae it “fit” better unlike the cheaper ones. Sadly it’s also loadsa money which is why we haven’t got one

Thanks for various comments, we’ve got a Trio in the Punto which SB uses, we could use the same to repalce the Renaissance in the Mondeo but seeing as we just need astage 2 seat or whatever it is for her getting a specific one of those seems just as good an idea. Will look at the Recaro, but much will probably depend on what good deals Kiddiecare are doing at the time…….

Sarah – the socket is cool, much better for long journeys! Katy they are loads of money but we felt they were worth it considering how long they should last. We got ours from the States because over there they have tether straps and given that the Land Rover seats are quite narrow and high it stops the car seats tipping forward off the seat of the car (iyswim?!) when the kids climb in and out. The other reason I chose them is because you can restrict the adult seatbelt or have it “free”. A lot of the multi age seats we looked at you couldn’t restrict the belt and so the child had free movement forward – we didn’t want that as both T and K kept leaning out and letting their shoulders out of the Graco one we had

did you get it shipped from the states or were yu living/visiting??

Helen, we got it shipped from speedwaremotorsports.com The guy there was very helpful. Didn’t work out that much cheaper once it was shipped and we paid the import duty but after having an american seat with tether strap before for the American vehicle we had previously (it had a retractable lap belt in the centre seat and no UK seats fitted properly) I really wanted the tether strap again as it holds them so nicely at the top. It was $840 for two seats >ouch< ! That sit’n'stroll things pretty fancy isn’t it! Looks just the think for using taxies and if you were going away without a car. Have fun browsing for them anyway, I always think the actual purchase is such an anti-climax LOL!

Mmm comment got cut off – the sit’n'stroll looks quite fancy! Just the job for using in taxies and taking away on holiday if you were going without a car though. Have fun browsing – I often think the actual purchase is such an anticlimax LOL!

well, he did sigh and ask me how I always managed to find the most expensive of anything! it doesn’t come with tethers too, and we would buy the footrest. I think my other rival would be the bebe confort hipsos – much cheaper, or the rocaro young child seats. I wish there was some way of actually knowing which really was best!
