Still there were 4 / global footprints

Aarggh another night of crap. I have such a bad back from perching on edge of bed, If it happens another night, am going to consider an action plan!

Saw Jax’s global footprint thing, and came up with 1.8 planets required. [My family need 3.3 hectares, the world has 1.8 and the average for my country is 5.3, so at least some good!] however, I wasn’t sure on size of house or liters petrol per 100km?? Our food choices seemed to score OK [1 as opposed to 0.9, but we could reduce the packaged foods some more] personal mobility [0.3] was bang on OK – though will get much worse when re-start work, though Chris will balance that out a bit with his cycling! we fell down on shelter having just bought bloomin big house, which if it has any energy efficient systems in it at the moment I will keel over in shock. actually does have secondary glazing, and new boiler, but we will be rectifying this as and when money trickles through our hands – lightbulbs and loft insulation being first priorities. I would like to have as lower energy imprint as possible, which is why a vidtorian listed building prob not the ideal eco choice!

  1. Swings and roundabouts on the house choice to an extent, yes it’s never goign to be as energy effiecnt to heat as more modern house, but then new house would require lots of energy/resources to build.

  2. hugs for sleep deprivation – similar story here trying to pull ourselves back into some sort of pattern after S being ill wrecked all our hard work on that one.

Hugs also for bad back – know that one very well :-)

Off to check out Jax’s blog to see what on earth you are on about re the rest of the post ;-)

  3. actually not on jax’s blog, comments in either joyces or alisons re dustbins?? can’t quite remember! Of course Jax was ‘better’ than me!!

  4. We did the global footprint thing at the Earth Centre – we scored about 1.3 but only cos our central heating boiler was broken! :-/

  5. I think thats excellent though. wish ours was as good – good impetus to change isn’t it. Mind you, people doin it may well be those trying anyway.
