Sports Day

On Wednesday we had a sports day with a local Home Ed group. nothing to dramatic, so little team races -run back and forth, doing stuff like squats and sit ups, sacks race, egg and spoon, tug of war, daft dressing up race etc. didn’t have to run too far, so although it was very hot (supposed to be around 35- 36 a bit later) we had lots of shade from big trees and there was a nice little breeze to cool us down a bit. Races were followed by a picnic. it was great fun anjoyed by kids and grownups a like. I recommend it to any local groups. afterwards we cooled off by the paddling pools.

Really, Flickr tells the story better than words.

Worst part of the day was driving 40 mins home in the hot humid late afternoon in car in which the aircon isn’t working -esp. if you are a Mum with persistent migraine :-( Much flaking out once we got home

  1. Lovely! It’s Shinies Sports day on Wednesday- I’m very excited as we’re having a mums race LOL

  2. Gosh it took us 35 mins to get home too and the air con wasn’t working on our car either, dh put the top down and this was worse, I too had a migraine (heat I think) and barely made it home. But it was lovely to see you all and I love the photos you have, especially of my little boy taking a photo!!

  3. That looks like a lovely day. My air con has gone intermittent too, Friday morning, arrived at work with condensation on the outside of the windscreen, then on the way home, after about twenty minutes of working fine it started blowing hot.

  4. it is a cute one of your boy!

  5. Air con!!!!! Who uses air con????? Everyone knows that bumps up your fuel consumption – Tim, I’m shocked ;-)

  6. It may increase my use of petroleum but it helps keep down my impact on the UK hop and barley industry.

  7. PS: As a family we balance it out anyway. I drive to work cool, Jax and the smalls cook. So at least I am making an effort.

  8. Lol! Are we in danger of running out of hops and barley? You’re so thoughtful ;-)

  9. Ha! Just discovered that driving with the windows open causes extra drag which offsets the extra fuel used by the air con (especially if you habitually expeed the seed limit).
