Couldn’t quite make it.

As has been mentioned before, Butterbean is having problems getting through the late afternoon when she doesn’t have a post lunch nap (which she doesn’t want post lunch…).

So today, got to about 4.30 when we had sat down with tea and cake to watch more Trials of Life DVD nd she fel asleep. so quickly woke her up and got her in the bath which was fine. But she still didn’t make dinner. She got grumpy again and wanted me to sit in the sitting room with her and watch TV, not really compatible with cooking dinner. So I put a Mr Men (argh!) DVD on the laptop in the kitchen. She was happyi;y watching it, when I turned round she’d curled up and gone to sleep again anyway :-)

Couldn't quite make dinner time....

  1. That is a fabulous picture. :-)

  2. there’s a great one of Small asleep in a high chair somewhere about, I love the way they do that.

  3. That is such an adorable picture. :)

  4. What wasn’t adorable was the fact that trying to move her up to bed she woke up too much and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Various attempts to get her to sleep (ok) and bed (not so ok) meant she didn’t get properly back to sleep until 11pm….. :-( Totally messing up the evening.

  5. but i did get lots of tiffs [kisses!] so not all bad

  6. Aww, cute picture. L is at the “can’t quite drop the nap” stage as well. It’s not so bad if he drops off in the car in the early afternoon, but if he gets to late afternoon and goes to sleep he doesn’t want bed for hours. So I have to watch for signs of drifting off and wake him back up which feels quite mean, especially when he’s looking hopefully at me and signing to breastfeed and clearly just wants to zonk out for a while.

  7. Love it! We had the same issues last night too – Shannon fell asleep in the car on the way home at 6pm, I looked forward to a nice easy bedtime, slipping her gently into bed, and 3 hours later we were still wrestling with her!

  8. joanna, did you get through akismet then!!!
