yesterday’s blog

grr to the F12 button which I mistakenly pressed instead of the backspace. it switched the laptop off, and therefore my blogpost evaporated, so I sulked!

Anyway, tues for me finished, as always, WAY LATE, so everyone asleep when I got in. Had appalling migraine wed, but took as many drugs as possible to keep it at least vaguely under control and got up near lunch time.

Actually, we did have a lovely day – though I had to keep head as still as possible! We played, SB read a fairytale book beautifully, did some more maths MPH1A [neeeeeaaaaarly finished!], a violin and piano practice [G and F added!] SOme colouring.

We spent a while making the dizzy funland Gears thing. SB followed the instructions very well, and i tried to distract BB from wrecking it! She was going to ‘maggle it’ [mangle it!]

We all went and ran about in the garden – unfortunately I left the camera out there too [blame the headache! - it rained last night] Anyway, a bit of sorting out, lots of swinging, rollerskating and running.

We watched a robin hood – lots of discussion about the crusades. should have had merry and girls! BB was exhausted and went to bed, SB and I ended up reading a french usborne first words, as SB and BB had got the usborne first words and usborne first french words between them – I of course did ham up slightly the french accent!! [Heaven help her]

then britannia and pirates book finished.

  1. I sympathise re. the migraine. I sometimes have those ones where I can just about cope if my head is still. If things get dropped on the floor they have to stay there unless a passing child picks them up.

    I like ‘maggle’.

  2. she is v cute in the way she says to me ‘i going to maggle youuuuuuuu’

  3. Oh no to the camera!

When I get a migraine I can’t move from bed without being sick and I can’t have anyone breathing near me let alone talking so I’m v impressed with reading, maths and music practice! On the plus side (for me), you seem to suffer frequently whereas I only get one about every 3 months. Sometimes I can also trace them back to not having had a proper meal the night before and maybe I go hypo in the night?

  4. good drugs. sometimes still bedbound, but they can last up to 4 days

  5. One day only for me – but the whole day then out of touch the following day (if that makes sense – a sort of not really being here). If I got decent drugs maybe I would be more mobile – may see my GP on that. I dose up on high levels of paracetamol and Marcus panics as to how he is to offload the Chloe somewhere.

  6. emailed you!

  7. Astra/Zeneca has released a Migraine drug that you can get over the counter at selected pharmacies called Imigran Recovery. it’s not cheap but it’s very effective for a lot of people.

  8. yeah, its imigran i have

  9. Will def sort something out. TY both.

  10. Camera seems ok. though left out to get rained on. I did feel a little relieved that it wasn’t me again who could have killed yet another camera (4 years, 4 digital cameras…..).

The Imigran has made all the difference really to H’s migraines. I do remember her being holed up in bed in the dark for ages before. Somewhat cheaper to get it on prescription though I would think than over the counter.

  11. like the look of that dizzygears thingy :) have some brackets for the migranes – I’ve never had so much as a bad headache really but know of loads of people who get regularly floored by killer migranes :(

I suffered from migraines from about 15 to 23. I became convinced that the best cure for them was orange chewits.

  13. and did it work????????????????????????????

  14. Bought drugs. Decided not to try the orange chewits as the drugs will still be here when I next get a migraine (which hopefully won’t be soon) and the chewits undoubtedly won’t.

  15. Chris (portico)

Well not completely but I always convinced myself that it would have been much worse had I not bothered and never tested if it was true. Kids today have epipens and inhalers, I had orange chewits :-)

  16. hmmm, will give anything a go. i find gallons of water, a cold flannel ground into my eye and high carb [potato] helps, and i am sure trepanning would too.

  17. Imigran sounds good – fantastic what you learn on HE blogs! Will have to get some in – only had a couple of migraines this year but for most of last year I was getting them every 3/4 days or so – ugh.

  18. I often want to make a hole in my head to get the migraine out from behind my eye. I can’t bear the cold – and have a hot pack over the affected side of my head.

I know that low blood sugar brings mine on – and I often get one after an adrenaline rush. Hormones play a part too. Donating blood brought on a really violent one. I think finding triggers and recognising early warnings has helped me avoid a lot in recent years.

Pink migraleve is ok for me if I take it in time. If I wake with a real killer I can just start throwing up straight away – so no drugs are any good.

Orange chewits sound like a nightmare migraine food!

I’ve had weird vision disturbance – wobbling jelly bean everywhere I look. Even stranger is the thick tongue and inability to select the right word.

Will file away the name of Imigran in my head – sounds useful.
