is what I was thinking as I closed the doors and windows open downstairs. There was a little bit of smoke drifting across the back garden, with a bit of? ‘burning rubber’ smell to it. About 10 or so minutes later, I remembered that the some upstairs windows were open, went up to close them and noticed the smoke was coming from ttowards the front of the house, along with a couple of popping/cracking noises.
It turned out to be this across the road from us:
Realized that our car was parked on the road almost opposite, so although I thought it’d be ok, I got it back on the drive pronto.
Soon put out by the firebrigade off course:

From what I gather so far – I’ll probably get the full story in the bakers tomorrow, the occupants (an elderly couple by the looks of it) were just driving along and it caught fire.
A bit dramatic for round here.

I think I’d look pretty elderly if the car I was driving along in suddenly caught fire.
Hope it hasn’t put fears into anyone’s heads. Chloe would be worried about being in the car for months if she’d heard about that.
Going around London last week she was constantly asking if the buildings were going to fall down. She’s majorly afraid of earthquakes even though she knows from plotting them on the map that we don’t live anywhere near a plate edge.
Ah, Max and i were once driving along and our car caught fire. Fran was 4 months old and i’ve never moved so fast in my life. Very scary indeed
When I lived in Weymouth still we were woken at 5am to a banging sound, looked out the side indow to see a car on fire in the carpark right next to our house! Lots of do we/don’t we need to get the kids out of bed and out the house conversations (after we had called the firebrigade anyway).
Very scary. I think what makes it scarier is all those american films of cars exploding.

I was driving my old Marina once when it started smelling of burning insualtion and a bit of smoke came through the air vent. I stopped, waited for bit, had a look, seemed ok, so I carried on and it never happened again.
Yep, Em, did wonder if we were going to see how realistic those films are.
