getting ready

long day at work today, but lovely welcome home. we have an alarm across the drive, so you can hear someone approaching the door – helpful as the bell doesn’t work! Anyway, the point of this is that before i had even got the handbreak on, BB had opened door and dashed out, and as I opened the car door she dived in a gave me the most lovely of hugs, telling me she loved me. I was v happy!!

Came indoors to similar welcome from SB – more happiness. The BB wailed and screamed because she wanted to do painting and chris was about to dish up dinner. she got over it and had fav dinner – ken hom!

SB had a breakdown after dinner as we were discussing what she might want to wear on sat. she doesn’t want to be a princess, she wants me to make her something in the 2 remaining evening. t-bird could do it [thanks!!] I did the angelina grovel grovel! SO I say, well what do you want, I can do mediaeval page tabard or crusader tabard and helmet. No she doesn’t want to be a boy. OKAY. so what – adapt a dress as maid marion – no. SO we look through lots of mediaeval and castle and tudor books. None of them, though some of the dresses look like her belle dress – so they do. SO, I suggest she doesn’t need to be a princess, but a rich lady in that, and we consider whether we might make a headdress. Stare at said books again, and we opt for a katherine howard french hood. SO some more discussion on adapting it, and it is now made. we chose material and how to make it, and SB happilly glued way too many jewels on it, and is now v happy. i giggled that she is wearing underalls [her phrase] as the dress is itchy. and was impressed when she said it wasn’t realistic because the sleeves weren’t detachable. see, something goes in!

bB got v waily, so fell asleep quickly. SB was in bed by 10 [oops] i have come downstairs to make 2 papier mache heads which will be v weak pinatas – perhaps!!

am way behind on the tasks though – quelle surprise! If t-bird arriving early, I am sure Aprillia and SB can catch up on a few of them – might leave a list!!

  1. SB has a mummy who makes things for her. SB is a very lucky little girl indeed!

Don’t get stressed about the tasks. It should be fun and enjoyable for you guys too! If it doesn’t all get done, no one is going to complain.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone – that’s the main thing!

  2. my friend A and I made cloaks today, it’ll be jewellry tomorrow. Can bring my jewellry making stuff if that would be of any interest?

  3. yup, jewelry stuff could be good.

i’ve been working my way round trying to tidy and remove clutter from various bits of the house. OK, but rather a case of 2 steps forward 1 step back at times.

Oh well, weather good for Sat at the mo. Both BBc and Metcheck agree, which is pretty unusual.

  4. We should be arriving mid afternoon adn am willing to do whatever needs to be done. Aprilia wants a tiara and , having done a trial run with what beads we had I think we can manage a few of those so will be off to HobbyCraft this morning for heaps of cheap pony beads and metalic “pipe cleaners”

  5. ok, jewellry stuff added to pile.
