Mr Men :-(

I hate the Mr Men books, sorry don’t know why but ‘Grrrrrr!’

We do haveone token one in the house, it was a present.

So when she chose her books in the library this morning, did SB choose one Mr Men book, or maybe two, no not three – no she chose six ! :-(

Talk about torture…….

apparently I will be getting to know the Mr Men much better soon, as they are used by our speech therapist – Mr Sneezy says achoo, Mr Bump says ouch and so on…

  2. Aren’t they awful? I loved them as a child, and spent ages drawing pictures of the various Mr Men, so I guess even the most tedious books can have some educational value. I thought Victoria Wood had it right, though, about how you could easily find you’d written one by accident, just brushing past the computer keyboard.

  3. ROFL!! you have my deepest sympathy! WE have the full set, up high on a shelf as a bribe to get Becca reading…. it worked for a few weeks then she decided that they weren’t worth the effort of learning to read for when Mummy will read all those other books to her anyway ;o)

  4. I hate them too – I would be refusing to read them if I were you! We, well, Joe, has had a ‘thing’ about the Happy Families books which are almost as bad!

  5. I quite like them, mainly because I can remember reading them as a child so there is a sort of nostalgia about them (like Bagpuss!). But I agree, there is very little in terms of great literature about them!

  6. I started by quite liking them, but now the ‘style’ is grating on me and I’m rapidly going off them!

  7. oh no, we have the set and i’ve been looking forward to reading them!

  8. Oh, sorry Merry, don’t let me put you off, some people seem to like them -)

Thing sis I can’t quite decide what it is I don’t like, they don’t on the face of it seem anyn worse than many other books, but once I read them ‘Arrrgh’, it really seems to grate. I read 3 to SB at bedtime though. She seems to liek them.
