CHEF Sports Day

On Friday, we had a clash, Sports day with one HE group, or a visit to Sacrewell Farm with another. SB chose the sports day, as she really enjoyed it last year, and the farm will always be there to go again to. So me and girls (H at work :-( :-( :-( :-(? ) went to the second of the local home ed group CHEF sports days that we have attended. Last years was very hot. Not so today, though the weather was fine, sun even came out eventually.

Plenty of classic sports day things, like egg and spoon races,

sack race,

3 legged race ,

tug of war etc.

and of course the obligatory ‘get the parents to do silly things dressing up race‘.

Finishing up with a ‘bash the watermelon’ game.

Butterbean wasn’t that interested in the sports, she just pottered about happily though :-)

And lots of chilling, eating, chatting, running around playing .

Rounded off the day up with a play at the playground/paddling pool area.

Met a chap there who is considering home edding his currently in school
daughter. So he’d chatted about that with various of us. At least we
will have answered the ‘socializing question’ quite comprehensively :-).

His daughter is quite happy in school, though the parents have concerns
about the education being provided in school. Seems a harder decision
to make than if child is obviously having problems with school.

It’s all good fun, and like the camps, a good way to enjoy and celebrate being part of the home ed community.

Thanks T-bird :-)

Well, it’s not hatched yet……

Yes, this an Easter Egg, yes she has had it since Easter (as well as the ballerina one stil in the pantry). She said today that she was going to keep it until Easter, to which we pointed out she would probably be getting more eggs then.

So then she dicided to finally start eating it tonight.

Certainly not a case of like Mother like Daughter then :-)

Aunty V’s present.

Sb spent some time making this, all her own ideas and work, I just left her to it.

It’s a house, in case you were wondering, with a table, bowl of fruit, tardis like bedroom and roof window with curtains – see the Flickr notes.

Kessie blog

Kessingland, well, what can I say! It was really wet, we had to move the tent due to flooding, but there were friends there, and fun to be grasped!

Highlights

Children still having fun. SB played with loads of different friends over the week, few spats, lots of laughter. She did stay up way too late a couple of times!

Sparky?s was a great hit for SB this year, she hadn?t been much before, and she loved it.

Both girls enjoyed swimming ? we went a lot to warm up!

BB?s excitement on seeing a real lion!

BB?s excitement on running, jumping and falling into muddy puddles!

The valiant craft sessions that still went ahead ? we have new tie dye, bits of air dried clay, an aquabeads thing to grab from merry and some gods eyes.

SB going off with friends and their parents happily to the park and to the beach [there was a lot of swapping children!]

Friends ? for chocolate, compassion, cups of tea and chitchat ? weather permitting! Thankyou lots and lots all of you, as particularly the first few days I was lost in a work world of misery.

Meeting New Home edders

Negatives

Well, the biggest was the boggy muddy pondy field.

Rain ? though it actually was only bad a couple of days, its effect on the field was awful!

Not getting to sit out as much to chat, while keeping a loose eye on children

Not getting to know people on the other side of the boggy quagmire!

The swimming pool changing rooms [perhaps that should be higher up on the list?]

Other things

I got 2 sparky?s certificates ? one was for my dancing skills ? rofl!

My mitts and camping socks from t-bird Anni were truly fab

The new airbed also far better than the old!

Doug makes a good fire

When we flickr, I will link here. And I reserve the right to add to this things I think of!

I should be in Cancun

the local carnival here continues on apace. this eve we had the local band playing in village centre and a raffle. SB was the proud winner of a box of chocs – chosen by her after considerable time!!

i went to work this am and then home. SB had done some maths and we did some violin, loads of reading/ jigsaws etc. Some colouring and writing. BB read books, did magic painting and bit people – lovely!! more strawbs harvested. I am sure chris will mention the milkshake.

Anyway, I should be in Cancun. but decided i really couldn’t face it [even though I would have enjoyed it once there] and it was expensive!!! so converted study leave into annual leave.

oh, I bought some goats milk, and we all liked it. SB is quite keen on the idea of a small farm. chris isn’t!!

cycling and roasties

my migraine abating now – having fair ruined the weekend!

Anyway, sadly without me, chris and the girls did the village carnival cycle ride, and SB did 10 miles! good going – with some stops at the official drink stops etc where she chatted to anyone who would listen. She was the youngest single cycler – someone younger on a tagalong. Chris pulled BB in the trailer. . He found out that our village has a power station in it!!!!!!!! Apparently at a landfill point in the old gravel pits. hmmm.

We went to chris’s parents for lunch – hence roasties. The girls enjoyed playing in the mini stream and waterfall they have had built. Relaxed nattering, and finally home. SB has practiced her violin and done a lot of reading and baked cupcakes. Also a fair amount of nintendogs – BB also rather keen on nintendogs!

Shall we gloss?

I had a combination of migraine, non-perfect outcome at work [my fault], feeling crap and blue.

so i compounded it by being so? unavailable for my girls that BB was biting me whenever she wanted attention. sigh. I did improve in the afternoon. Just.

SB did violin, lots of reading, made a lovely card and went to the kids carnival party. BBbit me lots, we did lego, reading, jigsaws.

both girls helped me with picking peapods [though i didn't get to eat any!] BB stuffed herself with strawbs [ and we have loads!!!] they also enjoyed scattering rooster pellets and watering.

‘nother one bites the dust

I have just come downstairs as tooth holding on by a thread and very painful.

Mummy has just pulled it out. Blood everywhere.

To the reader, read.

Stringbean reads lots to us know, but mostly new books rather than old ones.

Last night she read one of the Percy the Park Keeper stories to me, i like these, they are nice gentle stories. Anyway, she was given the book with a? story tape of it by my parents. I guess when she was 3. It was one of her favorite bedtime stories for a while and I read it to her lots.

And now she is reading it back [wipes eyes].

And very fluently as well. Still bemused by how that seems to happen.
