Planning ahead

I love thinking about the Muddlepuddle Winter camp. SB and Chris will have their birthdays there this time, and apparently Babs is being inundated with forms [if the camps list of senders is to be believed!] I imagine at this rate it will be full in a fortnight!

SB went to sports session this morning, and I did some tidying, and set off some oven dried toms - they are STILL oven drying! Merry and girls arrived before chris back, but did at least feed them swiftly, even if the main attraction of SB was still missing.

Lots of girls playing happily sounds, and then SB off to ballet, so Merry got to enjoy magic schoolbus for her girls. Jan/Jonathan – Chris can’t find many, where did you get yours from?? SB back, and a great clothes swap about. I find it offputting to see so many SB’s running about – as of course they wear SB’s clothes, and I usually see them and think SB before brain processes! Amelie is so like SB to cuddle as well.

Merry and I had a good gossip, and a play with the pentomino based games. I love them! might buy one for my Nan for Xmas actually, I think she would enjoy the solitaire one. [so don’t sell out and not replace Merry! Can’t find it on your site yet Merry, otherwise would link. BB had great fun playing with a mouse in a corridor game – which I am sure Merry might supply the link to too!

Girls wound down having a chippy tea watching magic school bus. SB now watching Nina and the neurons – arrgh we still haven’t done any SOTW, music practice or anything today!! But we have had fun. oh, and we have nearly finished that window mosaic now.

  1. we handed our form in today too. Melrose has always been a tough one for me, never have a good time so quite nervous. But kids so want to go and it is a fairly cheap week.

Pentomino games sound interesting – link Merry?

  2. handing in form must be cheating – thought I’d be doing pretty well to get it in post before end of weekend! ;)

  3. lol Jax, babs is treating all forms arrived like mine as arrived tomorrow to keep it fair. And I may never had done it if I’d have had to find a stamp and postbox before today!

  4. dammit I could only find a 2nd class stamp and didn’t have any money so mine won’t arrive till Wednesday!

  5. Well if mine gets there and bagsies that room then surely you’ll be ok too Sarah! The horror of the drive up there has worn off now I guess … although when’s the railway line reopening?

  6. rofl Sarah. i think wed will be fine! though with 4 that i know of handed in forms… Are you both sharing the big room then?

  7. LOL at all of you! Indeed, all those who have ‘cheated’ are not getting any preferential treatment ;-P Although Jax, had I not heard on the grapevine that you’d posted yours already, I was all up for driving round and collecting it in person. It is funny to think that I already have more forms than I did after a week last year, and the first lot of postal ones have not even arrived yet. Sarah and Alison, I can’t imagine anyone else bagsying that room this early on.
Helen, Sarah when do we own up and tell everyone that actually last year was c**p after all?

  8. rofl barbara – only if you need to reduce the numbers!! thing is, it was fab. and perhaps those that didn’t go last year missed it.

  9. In 2006 I didn’t really enjoy myself there, hence not going this year, but I’ve got the rose-tinted specs back on now ;-)

Have spent the last hour looking at train and bus timetables and think I am going to do it that way. Works out no more expensive.

Barbara – you should go into PR ;-) Very successful hype this year!

  10. yeah, the year before had been a bit odd.

  11. last year was lovely. I really like the drive to Melrose, too, don’t know what everyone finds so awful about it! Perhaps it is just a serious case of nostalgia on my part, from when we lived up there. Obviously 2006 was odd because I wasn’t there ;)

  12. and oooh! I just realised *my* birthday is in the week as well! it hadn’t registered before!!

  13. I was thinking of train journeys too, but we’ll see. Too early in the morning to think of now!!

  14. I don’t mind the drive the Melrose (in as much as i like any longish drive), but it’s pretty easy drive from here, find A1, go north a lot, turn off. But I don’t like the last section at night so much.

Train to Berwick or Edinburgh is ok from here, but put off somewhat by having to then spend an hour on the bus at the other end. Doesn’t look cheaper though £135 with family railcard, lot more than petrol, though on a ‘running costs ‘ basis , probably more even

  15. Chris, I was really pleasantly surprised at how much easier it was from yours (and you can do it all in daylight ;-) ), when you don’t seem *that* much further north than me. It only took about 4 hours or something crazy, and I do like the A68. But if I don’t come that way from here, and if I did it would take me even longer.

About £150 for me + 4 kids with FR. Which is what it costs me in the Bongo – 3 tanks of diesel. And coming home on the Friday there’s a train straight through from Berwick to Reading, which is nice :)

  16. do you fancy a magic school bus swap? We have about 4 dvds and I know them all by heart! We could lend you ours for a while.

  17. sounds like a good idea Tammy, thanks.
Any southerners are welcome to do a first break of drive here if they want!
