bank holiday weekend

My parents visited- which was nice. except that I was on duty for 48 hours of it!! [and manically busy]

When I got home yesterday we had a very lazy and relaxed garden day. read SB lots of books [ and I think mum read bookcases full the day before] fed and giggled with BB and generally just chilled.

SB did still do a fair number of maths workbooks pages, jigsaws, counting games [ludo, snakes and ladders etc], matching games [dominos and memory cards and snap] colouring and drawing and writing her name on all the muddlepuddle postcards. She’s getting the names of the continents from the globe, a lovely jigsaw or 2 and a new DK globe game which is like snakes and ladders, put a plane flying round the globe and getting sidetracked.

today we nipped to the garden centre and SB fell in love with a shed-house [ and me with a potting shed] we have done lots of gardening – pruning and weeding mainly. Much chilling and reading again. SB still having fun with patterns – this time connect 4, also reinforcing the 6 number bonds [which she clearly knows]. lots of just playing and imagination.

edit – forgot that we started another crystal experiment – time to buy in bulk!

Rather fun, we turned the garden sunshade into a den with prunings. we did weave some through, but SB was so enthusiastic that by the time photos taken, it was semi-rutus [?sp] but i like the word. We found lots of shield bugs on the branches to look in the bugfinder as well. tied in nicely with the new DK insects book I had ebayed….

SB sad as at new nursery, everyone left to start school, so she is starting again. She was very philosophical about it with Mum – which tugged my heartstrings a bit. I do think SB would prob love much of school, but I would hate it to crush her SB-ness!

Baaadd blogger me.

Esp bad as this started yesterday, but then I stopped to go to bed…… Can’t be bothered to edit it to reflect the correct tense though.

Helen was chatting to Jax on the phone earlier an complaining that she’s no idea what me and the girls are doing half the time becuase I’ve not been blogging – sorry, did someone mention something about talking… ;_) . I did find I was out of the blog reading/writing thing once we went to Copenhagen, so better write something……

So on to today. Well it rained most of the time it seemed, so little incentive to go out, so forgot to go and walk the short distance to get an appointment for SB to get her hair cut as it’s not been cut since before we moved and is annoying her (actually it’s ditto for me as well, but I don’t like ladies hairdressers , even when they say unisex ‘cos there is nothing else in the village, ‘proper’ barbers me). so a pottering sort of day really.

Once Helen was off to work and both girsl unusally were up and awake, we sat and generally played for a bit as BB wasn’t awake enough to be put down happily.

Headed off to the kitchen for breakfast, gave BB a couple of wooden spoons to entertain herself with, and so of course SB had to join in to. After her breakfast, feeling a bit crafty, SB dragged some bits out of the craft cupboard and started gluing and sticking. She found little Flower Fairies bag and wanted to decorate it for mummy. So she occupied herself for sometime with that, with just a bit of help now and again, mostly on strategic glue placement, while I continued with BB’s breakfast and mine, washed up and other kitcheny domestic tasks. The two Fairies on the bag are SB and BB apparently, and they are hiding. The craft table from the utility room is still out in the garden and hence was very wet so she did it on the kitchen table so we ended up with glitter etc. stuck to table as the newspaper had been forgotten. (re glitter, I bet the owners of our old house still vacuum up glitter …..)

Back of into the playroom where SB dragged out some books and ‘match and sort’ – aka workbooks of various sorts – moslty maths. We sat and did some reading, and various bits from the workbooks. she did quite few bits of various activities around of number bonds, more than/less than, simple subtraction and addition. She is pretty proficient at these now, what she doesn’t like is having to write down the numbers too much as she isn’t very good at that yet, though she can write them mostly pretty cleary if she wants to. Next step for numbers with her will probably be the whole tens/units thing. We come across it few times now. But it’s something she isn’t ready for yet.

When the postie came, laden down again with various Ebay parcels, – I bet she is glad we are near the start of her round :-) – she also brought a package for SB from my Mum and Dad. A magazine thing and a couple of quid to spend. Magazine kept her happy for ages. It came with little toy of a few little toy pigs and things which she played with on and off all day – including complicated game that lost me involving her little ‘Baby Annabel’ dolly. Spent a fair while reading the stories, helping her with the various puzzles etc. she did very well at writing the answers in on the little crossword thingy on the back. She does like writing, I think she is probably ready to be introduced to something bit structured regarding it, so just as well Helen has order Getty Dubay from Sonlight – by ‘slowpost’ so who knows when it will come. I’ve been pointing out the little arrows they often put on the outlined letters to indicate the way to draw them , and she does seem to finally be taking notice of them now, which will probably help her produce better formed letters.

Semmed to be some other things happening, but my mind is bit blank BB was of course around and joining in when when felt like it. Usualy when SB wanted to play with somethign without BB grabbing everything. She keeps on looking like she might crawl, but then just does the ‘extendable arm ‘ thing they do when they manage to reach all sort of things that you thought were out of reach. She also does the ‘how did they move over there – I never saw them move’ bottom shuffle thing that Josie was so good at. She loves standing though, nursey comemnted on it the other day. And likes now to walk bit if you hold her hand, I think she will be walker first like her big Sis at this rate. She does go backwards on her belly quite proficiently though. SB does love her to bits though and is generally so considerate of her, and loves to help wioth her. She does this shouting/screamy thing to her, which really gets on the parents nerves, esp. late on in the day, but BB loves it usually, bursting out in great smiles and chuckles, which of course just encourages SB……….

Helen came home so she had some time with the girls while I whatever boring doemstic tasks it was that I did.

Had pre-bedtime spurt of Miquon maths. SB had got it out earlier, but the childrens materials book is just a lot of pages of actvities with no explaination. some is obvious, some you aren’t sure quite what is expected. But The accompanying ‘Teacher guide’ thing has lots of explaination and suggestions etc. It’s approach in many ways seems quite different so this is useful. So I’d put it off earlier, but we went ahead this time and she did a few bits. It has some good things to do with using the Cuisinare rods. SB is really gettting the grasp of these now understanding how you can use them to represent a number, and how the different sizes relate to one another.Seemed a shame to stop her, but we did want her off to bed :-)

So, Tuesday

When Helen had gone to work BB was up but SB was still in bed, so me and BB had a nice bit of one to one time, and I could dangle her upside down (which she loves) and generally play around with her without Helen worrying that I am goign to drop her or hit her on the ceiling or some such. SB came down after abit, I think she’d been up in her room playing tea parties with her cuddlies, she brought basket of them down for her and BB to play with , ahhh :-) So we played for bit and then got around to breakfast eventually, having a bit of pop out the front to watch the workmen resurfacing the pavement. Intending to go to the library later we sorted out the books to take back/renew and actually picked a couple so we could get our first stickers etc. for the Reading Voyage thing (ermm we seem to have been a bit slow on the uptake her….) so of course we had to re read most of them. I tried to spark bit of dicussion as to why she liked some books rather than others, and what were the best bits, which was moderately successful, esp. the latter aspect. The Muddlepuddle bookbags have been successfukl anyway in helping keep out library books altogether. We actually managed to take all the books back in one go :-)

Anyway, it was sunny, SB was into workbook mode now, BB wanted milk, I wanted coffee. So we decamped outside with workbooks, milk, and a nice cafetiere of coffee and sat at the patio table. While BB fed and dozed off me and SB looked at the books. She had bought out the miqon one again, but the bits she wanted to do required me to explain some things to her and she didn’t really want that, so we did one of the other simpler more general maths type ones. She is getting the idea now of number lines. They had one of those in the book, went onto the discussion of numbers beyond 9, drifted into the ’10′s’ and counting up in tens. once we got to about 50- or 60 she was able to write down 70, 80 etc. herself. Showed her what 100 (and palyed around with the idea of it being called ‘ tenty’) and 200 was written like and then she could do the rest of the ’100′s. talked about how many noughts 1000, 100, 000, 1,000,000 etc. had which she found quite exciting. BB got packed of to the bedroom, and I wanted to sort outthe tomatoes in the greenhouse which have been neglected and look very unhappy. She was goign to help, but decidedd the GH was too hot, so got a cane and went to play. she was goign to be fishing, but I soon heard her ‘killing’ the towels hanging on the line…..

When she finsished her games she wanted me to do something wqith her, but i wanted to finsih, so she got a couple more workbooks :-) She went onto a couple of basic science and ‘opposites’ ones. Simple stuff really for her, but if she likes doing it fine by me. One spread was about animals living in different habitats – cold places and hot places, the cold palce had Polar bears, and Eskimo, seals and Penguins. Now this is a bit of thing of mine, so many kids books show penguins and polar bears together living in the same place [I assume dear readers that you all know they don't........ ;-) ] Now okay story books etc. I’ll let them off (grudgingly) but books which are supposed to be about ‘Science’ – Grrrrrrrr!!!!!! This idea is so prevaent that I find kids in a school of 11, 12, 13 etc. not realising this.

So anyway, we had bit of discussion about this, looked at the globe to see where the Arctic and Antarctic were etc. Short diversion into why they were the coldest bits (which no doubt lost her mostly, but I am endl;essy surprised by which bits stick, so persist in popping bits into the conversations.)and so why maybe the didn’t travel to the other poles etc.

So SB sat doing these while I finished in the GH and chopped down various bits of overgrown tree until BB woke up and called us to lunch :-) bit of blackhole here, as we didn’t get out to go to the library until getting on for 4 pm, but can’t quite think what happened in between. Did spend some time upstairs with BB rolling about sans nappy, while I put clean nappies and clothes away ‘ably assisted’?? by SB.

Nice visit to the library, renewed some books, got her Reading Voyage bits done, sat and read a few things, enterntained people by being dressed in her fairy outfit :-) got some new books. Came home via the church yard so had to stop and read lots of grave stones and the hairdressers to make an appointment for SB who hasn’t had a cut since before we moved. Home to make a rather nice cous cous thing (SB loves cous cous) for dinner, SB did a good job of cutting up the Runner Beans. Helen home a lateish as usual for Tuesday, more ebay parcels to open. A nice DK game which they played a couple of times while I finished diner preps.

BB was with me in the kitchen on the floor while I did this, she started off miles away from the the ‘to compost’ bucket but unoticed by me shuffled across and started rummaging. When I noticed she had a n apricot that had started to rot in one hand stuffed in her mouth and a bit of green potatoes in the other.

Dinner, small people to sleep, coffee, ahhh………

Some thoughts/ponderings are bobbing around in my head, but that will have to wait.

A few piccies (not esp. good) are of course on flickr

Simple Sunday

Had contemplated going to Norfolk today, but instead we are going next Wed.

got up – reluctantly! And immediately had to build specific lego house – the client was a particularly demanding one! Some relief came when we went swimming. SB still doing the drowning dog stroke – but I am working on confidence to try other things! She is very confident at launching of the side – nearly a sitting dive to be honest, and then carrying on swimming. She also likes to do dolphin ducks under and over. BB also loves the water, and kicks and splashes wildly, with careful preparation she can float on her back – but for a few seconds only, as she then tries to turn over and sinks.

On the way home we picked up some more fresh plums, sweetcorn and runner beans from various stalls on the road. Talked with the somewhere in 80′s no doubt plum lady about the village and changes, and my desire for an orchard. She says I can walk the children round it whenever I like [5 acres]. I know, and orchard and chickens – must have watched the good life once too often. [partic if you look at our veg bed photos on flikr - oops, but has been productive, despite the weeds]

More lego, and then we decided to read the castle flip book and make our own – which we did. A minor contretemps as SB had spotted a roman house kit from DK which i will put aside for a couple of years, and really wanted to build that instead. Anyway, a lovely castle from loo rolls was made and painted [crafts]. I was pleased to have done it, as going through old photos, we seemed to do a lot of arts and crafts, and this really has slowed down a lot – due to lack of planning by me I suspect.

Some story reading – including Ulysses by Usborne, and the she helped me make pasta bake for tea – so some to freeze again for little Nanny. SB has got over courgettes now, as it contained those and fennel, red peppers alll chopped but visible. Still whizzed the mushrooms and onions though. Also pine nuts and olives. yummy!

Chris putting SB to bed, as I’ve got to do this major talk for work [still!], and BB burbling at my feet. Chris has done some slashing to the overgrowth in the veg beds this afternoon – good man.

www.flickr.com

How late?

The day just seems to have whizzed past, SB only went to bed at 9ish, and I’ve been messing about with the copenhagen flikr pics some more.

i rang Little Nanny and she is getting a bit better. her neighbour cooked her dinner and watched her eat it, and until end of next week, social services has a lady coming in daily for an hour to help a bit. My dad visits midweek, and my aunt the week after [and hopefully us for a day, so getting cooking!]

When we got up, SB decided we should make icecream, and was very put out we couldn’t, so settled on jam [well, jelly] so picked elderberries and added some frozen redcurrents. had assorted beasties to look at then in bugbox – mostly ladybirds and spiders. We played walk the plank, followed by a grizzle session. SB then read a book – no kidding! a starter one with simple repeats, and I did take over as she was worn out, but def sound and say. [cue trumpets]

Having worn ourselves out, she watched toy story 2 and german sesame street whilst I flikred. This segued nicely into german reminder phrases while Chris pruned the grapevine. We then set up the second drain for the jelly to go overnight and hama-ed. I read some of the usborne stories from around the world - we look at the map on the front, and chose india and denmark. Some leappad maths and phonics and thats the education!

BB still happiest when standing, and appears to be in paradise if standing and SB playing peeboo from behind the sofa. Got to eat some runner beans from garden [she likes]

My ears still playing up from flights though. Otherwise all well here [mostly, as SB has back-at-home-itis, but only mildly] Yes, as a confirmed photoholic I did take photos, and they are still on the camera!

Turned out sunny – long

Thank goodness things improved. was still bluergh first thing, but some coffee and cakes from the bakery helped. I read inumerable books to SB whilst BB used me as a climbing frame and refused to feed properly. BB then played on the floor quite happily – she likes contingency toys, particularly if they are tuneful!

SB and i looked at the new webland [she had done some with Chris whilst I was still bleugh as well]. more singing of 12345, and dino tales. SB has quite got into the games extra sections. It certainly so far has been worth its subscription. We then played dr’s – SB takes it to new levels of realism by being on call and answering the phone from her bed, getting up and asking whether she needs to drive v quickly or not! I had floppy hand, closed eye and shut ear syndromes [seperately]. BB had scratchy nails!

To cut my blurginess short, I decamped to the garden and the MODHEU. I often find an abrupt change of venue, with limited resources suits me better, and gets me active. For SB I took out some jolly phonics workbooks that we haven’t done in ages, some singapore maths, usbourne story of hercules, DK why greeks built temples, a photo album of when she was BB’s age, her dough beads from friday’s puddlers group and some paints. BB had assorted toys and boardbooks – though mostly she wants to stand and bounce bottom!

had to come straight back in, as SB and I disagreed over the wind strength on the beaufort scale – she thought 6, me 4, and on reading the book = 5! Chris put up arbour seat that we had bought for old house to tempt buyers, but never actually put up. took him all day really. SB periodically helping did not really speed up the process.

We were having such a pleasant time that it was 3 o’clock before we remembered to have lunch. SB took a shine to the JP workbooks, and I was sent in to get the rest, and she drew round the letters very carefully – she is definitely getting interested in writing, so glad ordered getty and dubay. She also wrote my whole name out without letter guides [I did spell it letter by letter though] the H and N were the same and a mixture of capital and small, but i was really impressed, as 2 months ago this would have been unthinkable. Real step forward.

The maths wasn’t for her today, but we read the hercules, and the DK greek book. discussed Greek gods a bit – and the one we have in the garden [Bacchus = parties] and what other ones we should have statues of – demeter, hera as for crops and women and children and a dryad. This was not done in any religious way [to stop palpitations and fainting] as we also discussed the Greeks religion of the time, and that no-one practices any more, and that the gods/goddesses were used as a way of focusing the mind on what was important to a person at that time, and also as a way of trying to explain why things happen. Quite philosophical! We decided that although our house needed a clean, we perhaps wouldn’t divert a river through it, as SB was worried our carpets would be ruined. [she can be very practical when I have a flight of fancy]

Thinking of Demeter we went to the overgrown veg patch and harvested some potatoes and onions. in fact all the onions could do with harvesting and drying, and ditto potatoes [well not drying], or they will get slug damaged. When you next visit, Merry, ask and you shall receive! I dig, and SB rummages for them – a good team effort. lots of bugs spotted – favourite is always ladybird. our elderberries also nearly ready for harvesting and jelly making. [ edit 2 – Actually, while we were there, we could hear the hymns of a wedding – very nice, and then enjoyed the pealing bells afterwards.]

oh yes, we painted some of the dough beads [yes, chris did bake them yesterday] BB attempted to eat one, but foiled. [an aside – just loading photos from today and I took 123 – can’t imagine how – so pruning required before flikr!] In fact BB, although dreadful at milk today, has been one eating machine. Top 2 teeth are nearly through, and certainl noticeable to me after a feed – but not like Isabelle yet.

losing thread now, but we returned to each thing a few times – particularly the JP, and SB was sounding out the 3 letter words [whatever they are called] quite confidently. SHe also drew some lovely pictures in the workbooks, i think my favourite was the r for raspberry, which she painstakingly drew the seperate circles for. Her concentration and detail in art really is accelerating. She ‘read’ to BB, made up songs, princess story re-enactments, lots of climbing frame gymnastics [must sort gym out] and general malarkeying about. Unfortunately photo album a casualty, though photos not.

By teatime she was noticeably worn out, so bath first and then tea. While waiting for the quiche to cook we started cutting out for a mudpud recognisable fabric pennant to put on buggy – not sure what with at moment! SB confident at scissors, and cut oval of pond, and some of the spikes, as well as the easier bits of the duck, and the reeds [well, they were going to be beans, but not really identifiable as such, so reeds they are now!] She did nearly all of the butterfly, but was so big compared to duckling, we decided I should trim it down – a shame really. More sounding out and spelling at teatime, then Mog and shirley hughes stories at bed. She and BB flaked out rather quickly.

When i have reduced photos to a number that are not going to use up ther rest of our allowance, will be on flikr!

edit 1- looking at photos, i forgot to say that we ‘decorated’ BB

Manic Monday

Well, work was anyway, as a few colleagues short – again!
Got home and immediately relaxed. SB and I finally finished her Melrose clock. Played in the garden, watered toms, lots of simon says and ballet shows [again thank goodness not overlooked!] A bit of patterning with her cuisinaire rods and reading a book about the north and south poles.

BB cuddlable and adorable.

felt vaguely unsettled as had nigthmare after nightmare last night – all wierd and vaguely reminiscent of cube and hypercube scifi crap films. In fact parent 1 from the portico died with me in one of them swimming when the water became solid WTF?? Howeer, kept seeing the post thing in cartoon, with Chris looking after the beans, so wondered whether this was my subconscious grappling with the at work thing.

Oh well, chocolate tonight and an early bed

Ahh, good day today.

though a surprise, considering I only managed to go to bed at -2:30!

SB got up and brought me some singapore primary maths 1a this am whilst I was still in bed [9-ish] sat on BB’s head so she woke up too! Since I have started being worried that we are letting things slide, I managed to prise open eyelids and we romped through the numberline pages. When SB then brought a spelling ‘match and sort’ book, i realised she was raiding the future presources box and got up. i fished out the DK eyewitness books [that were a book people special a while back] and some phonics cards and went down in search of breakfast.

SB was the teacher [as always] for the phonics cards, but I hope that she actually takes some note of my answers. I think it is going in, but no reading coming out yet. We then had a toss up between the shark and the volcano eyewitness book, and the volcano won out.

About half way through Chris reminded us that if we were going swimmin…. So a frantic getting ready and the usual SB exasperation with going out hurries. We did get there though – nice pool and reasonably quiet for the sat morning session. And [drumroll please] SB swam half a width unaided!!! Several times infact, floated on back and generally enjoyed water confidence. She is swimming like a drowning dog, but its a start! BB as always loved the water, kicking and waggling about.

Home to some joe the dragon addition and then fraction fireworks, plus the stackers. she finds numeracy easiest when she thinks in sweets, even if in her head!

Lunch was another SB palavar, as she really is driving me nuts with the not being bothered to feed, wanting to be fed rigmarole. I might not be so fazed, but she did actually starve herself between 9 and 15 months [92nd to 5th centile]

weather so good we put up mudpud camp gazebo – to find there is a piece missing! [is it with you layla??] BB had some toys on a mat, SB and I did part of a mosaic style banner until boredom set in. we the read the usbourne pocket science why people are different and 3 red nose readers. though i was reading, she is at least guessing words now. lots of general play/tickling messing about interspersed between the 3 of us. [chris mending the pond fountain]. SB has got much better at balancing, and was even scootering well. I wore different trousers today!

SB then put on a horseriding show while chris persuaded BB to nap, we also peeled and chopped veg for tea [my pretend south american dish – sweey pots, butternut squash, carrots broad beans and sweetcorn in a gingery chilli sauce. should be with couscous , but had run out, so rice and tortillas that SB makes into ‘sushi’]. The broad beans were own grown and about 5% were maggoty. We never really had pests in leeds as too far from any other veg growers i guess, and new made plot. What got me [and stopped SB helping] were that they pinged themselves all over the place – lovely! Anyway, you could pretty much tell the pods infected from the outside. When I find my veg growing books i will look it up. We ate outside again as such lovely weather. This was followed by looking at varoius seedpods – water and land iris, hellebore, sweet pea [everlasting] and a general scout around the garden. SB solemnly warned me not to eat any. I also introduced her to drosophilla – as there were manky cherries in the pantry!

While Chris did bedtime stories tonight, I have been having a kissy/raspberry giggle and ticklefest with BB – she has a great chuckle. She is now asleeo on lap, and chris coming down the stairs. What a lovely day!

general updates: littke nanny happy in convalescant/rehab cottage hosp. we will be visiting wed. My sister 34 tomorrow. not guiness [AKA Murphys] seems to have departed.

time for a limoncino and coffee!!

OH AND WHY DOESN’T MY GRAVATAR WORK??????

lovely house…………..

i decided while outside eating dinner looking at it. when i’m panicking over money and wondering what we have done, i am going to go outside and look at it. the back view *is* my dream home, no wonder we overextended to buy it.

Anyway, BB is a happy girl. she has been plying with those press and ghastly woofy tunes play type toys today. mesmerising! Also while in bath did first roll from tummy back to back – a surprise for her! She lies on my lap like a little cherub form rubenesque school! we would make a very rubenesque mother and child!

SB had her stagecoach show today. it was all very lowkey – as anticipated for a group of mostly 4 year olds. i though SB concentrated remarkably well, and her overacting building sandcastle and pretend cry as sea washed it away drew laughs. I was proud!! [also low key].

At home we played shops – gradually i am using money with real values as i think we use switch too often! We also made our own pompoms to turn into a chick. attention span didnt quite last, so i finished. A bit of piano playing and object hide and seek.

the day brightened though, so we went out intio the garden and dug up more potatoes and picked more beans – yummy. SB raced around the garden, and even rode bike without stabilisers [i think the like a bike a like was instrumental there]. We played tag, and i was hampered by BB in my arms, particularly when my trousers fell down – luckilly no cameras! SB also had great fun climbing and swinging on the tp frame.

the weather was so nice we ate our curry sitting on the lawn. BB had peas and swede instead, as dont fancy her having tummy ache!

OH, earlier in the day SB wrote my sisters birthday card. She is getting quite into writing so nearly did sonlight order for getty and dubay but couldn’t find cc. Also hadn’t clicked from mudpud. on that note, cant find my link to sarah’s science experiments in a box??

chris and i have come up with an order of housedisasters to be sorted – roof leak being at number one spot!!

edit – omg 2.30. how did it get to that time??

sunny day

And so it needed to be, as first opportunity to play with SB for me since I left Kessie. only got home from work at half 10 and ravenous, but after that went for quality SB time, as get more interaction with BB in the evenings.

Started with playing all together, with me n SB stacking up cups for BB to knock down, and putting toys in them for her to find. BB is such a sweetheart, and her face is all aglow with excitement in these combined games with SB, who it is quite clear she hero worships. [what a long sentence]

BB carried on while SB and I started doing some hama aboriginal dreamtime style piccies. Actually SB not bad, though attention span compromised, so moved on to playing copy each others patterns and sorting out the colours. Particularly including counting, adding and spatial relationship skills. Kept us both happy!

we spent alot of the afternoon playing in the sandpit, burying our dinosaur fossil and then hiding it around the garden.
Sb also put on shows for us to watch. We then dug up potatoes and picked broad beans for tea, but actually had pasta – LOL. Oh well, there for tomorrow. Unfortunately the potato tops have blight, and the whole veg patch weed city. Not done a good job.

Actually whilst on house update, roof leaking, bath taps dodgy, showers not working, 100 year old grapevine dying etc etc. sigh massively!

After tea we read the 10p book from the hospital friends stall on rivers and water. very nice. It also had a picture off newt eggs on oxygenator plants. we of course know that now from last years experiment of what are these eggs, and what will they become [well 2 goldfish and 2 newts].

BB hasn’t been ignored, and has been doing lots of standing practice and manipulating objects. also some tummy shuffling. She is such a bundle of happiness. 3rd tooth nearly through.

little nanny walking with special zimmer, and the girls visited her for a long time yesterday – did nanny the power of good I think. the other ladies also cooed over my girls. SB took in the usbourne pocket science book of why we are ill for little nanny, so she would understand 0 bless. other ed moment sith chris [in case he doesn't blog] were stagecoach yesterday final rehearsal, and my fav, SB asking if the world slowed down spinning in summer so the days were longer. we need a globe I think!

I really would like to organise and arrange our home ed better again [still autonomous, but with the ideas etc ready] however, with the house in chaos and me always at work, I am worried that we are never going to do it as we would like. Early days yet I guess.

oh, and Chris P, 2 ways to my heart, food and calling my child gorgeous! Thankyou.

Kessie tomorrow!!!

Today at work noticeable for the massive thunderstorm, and my introduction to the NHS IT chaos in the making which is choose and book!

got home just before the beans returned from nursery. I had my dig it out dinosaur fossil from ebay arrive and a book today – SB thought it was great, and with very little finesse, it is done! SHe was most impressed though, so worth the ?3. I have found somewhere that sells them not on ebay for a little bit less [must check postage], so may buy a few and get them out periodically. also does some egyptian ones too. WIll buy one for nephews birthday to go with jigsaw.

We then went out in the garden to play catch – SB getting better at catching a ball [not one of the family's great skills] Then we picked loads of broad beans for tea – yummy. Whilst waiting for tea [mum cooking] we did some of the puzzle bits on webland. oh, and the fairy garden has germinated, so very happy.

SO although i was at work, I think today I still mnanged to touch base with SB in a good way. SHe had fun at nursery with her friends, and they did ‘PE, playing and eating’!!!!

BB definitely getting more determined to get own way – so yet another strong willed girl in the family. She is quite surprised when she shunts herself backwards, but think she’s getting better at it. SHe’s eating more, and feeding less, and nearly sleeping through! I am finding expressing hard going, but really want to keep the BF going. Life is going to calm down a bit, and I need to keep going until then.

Little Nanny starting to walk. The physios doing a good job, but still way off actually walking, and she is getting fed up. She is a bit confused and a bit depressed, but when she gets back to her won home I think a lot will improve.

ANyway, stagecoach tomorrow, and we will set off at 2 ish, so arrive perhaps 5 ish?? save a big khyam space for us. [don't know our number, but we are pretending to be the clarke's] Look forward to sharing a chat with all those going, meeting old and new faces. I’m not as nervous as I was for Melrose, so actually enthusiastic rather than resigned!
