2 day catch – up

Suffering from ‘Bloggers Brain’ – as in I can’t remember what we did yesterday to blog it …..

I know we went shopping in the afternoon, Stringbean was very good, went to couple of shops and got some veggies from a market stall (3 caulis for 50p – bargain….) – helps out by counting out the requiste number of lemons or whatever – she always wants to buy lemons for some reason. Excellent help in Waitrose, they have small kiddie trolleys (proper trolleys, not those stupid ride in car type things), she pushed this around carefully while I had Butterbean in the buggy, carefully stacked everything in there as we went round, didn’t crash into anyone. This was quick in and out shop so not enough time to get bored and grumpy for either of them. Came home to find H home so of course BB had good munch, SB wanted to play with mum, while I did housey things (cook dinner etc. Cauliflower cheese of course, which pleased SB as it’s one of her current favourites.). Roughly put up the Kyham to air has it was wet when we packed (disadvantage with something like the Kyham, can’t just hang it up to dry) and I remembered it was still in the roofbox festering.

The main thing I rememeber about the morning is that BB went to sleep about 3 times, but woke up after about 10 minutes or so each time so got quite grumpy and so spent a fair while cuddling her, some ‘matching and sorting’ went on as did some more colouring at some point, and we didn’t fiddle about with the tandem to attach the trailer so couldn’t try out that to go to the shops in (and in fact went about 2-3 hours later than intended….) All in all it was bit of bitty unsatisfying day, to much mess around from the holiday still etc.

Today (Tuesday)

Read a chunk of the Osburne TimeTraveller Omnibus on Romans with SB over breakfast time, along with the associated little diversions of conversation that crop up. after getting dressed, pottering about erc. then found the library books (now I can look them up on the ‘puter to see which ones we have out I’m nuch better at getting them all back). Ambled round to the library, ‘Storytime’ has started up again so we sat and listened to that, did a bit of colouring and sticking to make sea horse for the undersea display before getting out some more books. Had couple of ‘going to school’ type conversations as of course various parenst kids have headed off this week. Responses to ‘We are home Edcucating’ were boringly uninterested

Had the though that things are bit like some sort of bad ’50s sci-fi, all the children once they reach a certain age, suddenly disappear from view – creepy :-)

Home again, home again to sit down to give BB some milk and settle her down for snoooze and the a good read with SB. After lunch she found the magnetic Jiglets from when we moved and we played with them on the fridge. A slight confusion with the way words go. On the Zebra the word ran from the animals tail to it’s head, when she did fox it was the other way round, but she still did the word the same way so it was back to front , took a bit of convincing that words always go left to right :-) A bit more dot-to-dotting and colouring (she is really into both at the moment) and maths workbooky stuff – she has a great collection of felt tips, most of which were cheap or free and are frankly rubbish, they run out in no time and clutter the place up, so finally convinced her to throw away any that have dried up and we will by a set or two of decent ones. (There are couple of Berol ones around whihc have been around for ages and are still going strong) while we played with BB then headed outside into the garden.

SB got most of the washing off the line for me (she stands on her little trampoline ), played in the still up tent, rolled around with BB, then when BB had another nap we went in and cooked tea. SB did a really good job of cutting up the tofu, carrots and cauliflower. H came home bit late as she was on call but just as were having dinner, so got to have it with us. Tidied up the playroom while dinner cooked, SB insisted I hoover soo that I could put the rug back down (wouldn’t countenance putting it back over the grub…) so it was softer for he ‘exercises’ – much jumping and twirling about, and seemi headover heels and handstands. Wa shoping to get her into soem sort of proper Gymnastics class, but haven’t managed to yet

After bath time was chatting with SB about HE and school, what she thought HE was, and what she thought school was like – no idea of course really – she did suggest we should ask M her cousin as he goes to school. Not sure what she thinks about it, but she is happy with telling everyone who asks she is not going to school and is being home educated, so we leave it at that, we don’t really mention school very often anyway, we don’t make big deal about it, just ignore it really. It’s just not part of our life.

We travelled a long way mentally in 2 years.

So today

well, no photos taken – that must be blogworthy!!

postman brought sonlight order while we were away [its in things I have my eye on page]. I managed to restrain myself and open with SB. So we have read the archaelogists dig for clues, maps and globes, first 3 greek myths and done first 8 pages of explode the code book 1.

for a break, we went swimming! SB swam a whole width, so will have to arrange hose swimming lessons now as promised. STill in drowning dog style, but she has such confidence in the water. her stroke is far better when underwater swimming as not worrying about keeping head up. She almost immediately started playing with another girl, and they had a whale of a time together. Hopefully we will meet up at the pool again sometime. BB loves being in the water, splashing and kicking away.

Came home for beans on toast, read a bit on egyptians, greeks and romans from the encyclopaedia, also the earth and solar system. [SB chose the pages that looked interesting to her] Some singapore maths and then colouring of a big fun book she has.

I then went out to harvest all the onions/shallots before rain makes them worthless. they are v damp, so will need airing/drying.
SB got the hama out for another flower. She wants to make loads and loads, so have done a bead merrily order.

Minor moment as I insisted on playing with BB, and heaps of books brought to my feet. We continued, and when settled, relented and multitasked.

Now rewriting my lost presentation for friday – sigh. Anf flickr uploader crashed, so fiddled about with that, but first 50 won’t automatically be in the set. Have looked at screamteam’s photos while waiting

Indian Summer/ September Camp

agh, my presentation frozen – am i in autosave mode? dare i find out?

Anyway, will take this oportunity to blog – initialy sketchilly and to fill in.

tuesday
miraculously left at 7.30 and a few traffic jams aside, made good progress. Stopped in a service station to find chris’s bumbag [with everything inside] precariously hanging to outside of car through SB’s imperfectly shut car door [Yep, gave him a hard time on a number of the issues raised]
tent up easily – poles are helpful here
SB helping was even helpful in places.
Lovely campsite
We then went for walk up onto quantocks – it was BB’s first bushbaby experience, and she seemed to like it. SB enjoyed the walk as well.

It was still reasonably warm at night – no need for fleece blankets etc. If mudpud does end up moving, this would be a good alternaive week? could have a rising 5′s not back to school barbie [katy's idea, though we couldn't make it]

Wed
Visited Crealy, and met up with the Screamteam and 2 red Boots. We were late, but they appeared unfazed. It really is a great place, but not able to forcibly move it to closer to home.
Lovely day and lovely company. the children played happily, and after a slightly shakey start, SB got the flow of things too. Kessie dog certainly a softie, and even I’m not afraid of her! Relaxed chat for adults, and lots of water playing for children. yep, it is going on flickr as I type!

thurs
met up with a uni friend, Shaula, who is the children’s godmother. We took the somerset steam railway to minehead, had a picnic on the prom and then a walk and play along the sands. Not such scorching weather – Sb disappointed not to swim. However, looked at what I confidently explained were lugworm holes [i hope] and drew and wrote in the sand.
chris for some reason put BB in bushbaby backwards – looked very odd, and turned her round again.
Shaula had come bearing gifts – both children delighted!
She had tea and gossip with us, as it is far too long since we have met ‘IRL’

fri
this time a drive to exmoor and a couple of walks. around caractacus stone and tarr steps ancient clapper bridge. lovely day. tea shop lunch and chips at minhead prom for tea! SB a good walker now. didn’t moan too much that BB now has bushbaby! SB loves tree climbing too. Lots of roving HE – geography/maps contour lines, flooding, landscape reading, history, ancient technology, flora and fauna [caterpillars, pondskaters, sheep, ponies]

sat
slow to pack up, and had been rain overnight. SB took almost the whole tent packing time to tidy a few books and toys. Had been goingto look at a local abbey and then moveout, but just got going earlier to meet up with pete ‘n kate in bristol. He was Chris’s friend at uni, she mine at school and uni, they met at our wedding…..
lovely to catch up again.

so all in all a chilled and sociable holiday.

Home ed taking place – lots of colouring, a fair bit of singapore maths. SB ‘read’ to herself a variety of red nose readers, and we read a lot of others together. We looked at her egyptian book , why it rains and a space book as well. ed on the hoof as above, also star spotting in the evening – mostly making up our own constellations. I think shaula read SB the whole child’s bible.

Puddle-bumping.

Had another visit from the Patch of Puddles which was lovely. Though sadly Fran was not feeling very well and spent most of the time sitting, lying quietly which was a shame. But the rest of them all had a good time. This is a great house for having visitors, plenty of space inside and out for the kids to run about and play, plenty of space in side and out for the adults to sit and chat, drink tea, eat etc. :-) Day was lovley and hot and sunny, autumn will soon be on it’s way, so need to make the best of these.

I was out getting supplies when they arrived, apparently there was an odd little time on first arrival as Stringbean and the puddlers settled in with each other -SB not wanting to join in and play with them, which happened before, resolved by bringing out some new bits of Brio type train track . Not sure wat that is about exactly but by the time I arrived they were off and playing., flitted in and out of the house, playing upstairs, on the climbing frame, riding scooter, bikes etc. Didn’t really notice exactly what they were doing but they all seemed to be happy most of the time. Evidence of playing with old Cindy dolls on the landing, snippets of the typical ‘Do you want to be the baby, I’ll be mummy’ type conversations, and lost of running around, clambering about, whilst adults chatted and gossiped.

Had nice lunch, cooked the kids some pasta – mostly becuase we know they will all eat it, and it’s quick,. Served it to them on a table down the end of the garden well out of earshot ;-) Then did a pitta bread, hoummus, olives, salad, corn-on-cob type thing for the adults, plus the kids to eat bits of as they saw fit Sat muncing on this under the gazebo on the lawn whilst children swirled around us back and forth.

It’s great watching them all playing together, SB and Maddy in particular seem to get on well (nearest in ages of course). BB and Josie did the sitting, squirming (BB) and crawling (Josie) baby thing happily all day. We do feel that SB maybe misses out on playing with other kids a bit. In Leeds she had a circle of he friends from Helen’s ante-natal group that often met up most weeks, and tots club (with many of the same) etc.. We’ve not really managed to make any suitable contacts yet in the village, we did attend a few group things in the village, but moslty it was younger kids attending (not that SB seemed to mind), presumably the older ones were at nursey, playgroup etc. and of course lots will be going to school very soon. She doesn’t seem obviosluly bothered by this, but maybe she is too young to think about it. But she does love children visiting her,and when we go to the playground, she always likes it when ther are other cildren around who she can play with. And as a dad (since I’ve done most of it of course), it does seem a bit harder to link into the mum’s network sort of thing that groows aup aroubnd the variosu baby/toddler activities. We’ll see how things go I guess.

Anyway, we all decided to try and make the effort to get togther a bit more often. Will hopefully make the Peterborough Puddlers meeting on Friday

I would include some piccies , but of course H has gobbled up our flickr upload allowance for this month. So it will have to wait until tomorrow. She has only got a slighty twitchy mouse finger….

helen edit: it was a lovely day – sorry if i seemed vague at times, but getting too old for 24 hour shifts. SB had bee really excited by puddlers coming, but also very clingy when I got home – she really hates my 24 hour shifts, and wants to do everything with me the next day, which is lovely but I’m usually knackered.

Before the puddlers arrived, we talked about what she had done yesterday, read some of my history of england for children ebay purchase books [lovely!] – for once we read modern history, so first and second world wars, and related them directly to family members, which she grasped. Also discussed a bit why wars might happen. there was a cartoon piccie towards end of margaret thatcher and all SB could think about was what a fat head she had got – i think a bit of a lack of appreciation of artistic licence!

we did some more patterning with the connect 4, but the real business was trying on the rollerskates I got from the friends shop for ?1. these are the bees knees as far as she is concerned, and she skated all over the playroom, the corridors and outside. Only one egg on her forehead, and otherwise getting the knack – did have to put my foot down about wearing them on the climbing frame – particularly when the puddlers were here ‘but maddy said I could go down the slide fast’…..hmm!!!!

Chris has covered the puddlers – which was lovely, thanks for visiting. Need to contact Karen O in Northants too. [if you're reading....] We are hoping to catch 2 red boots next week when in somerset/devon camping [venue TBA!], and hopefully firming up a few open house visitors, so that’s good.

When puddlers left, a long cuddle, as SB very sad to see them go – so after a shaky start… next time must sort out icebreaker activity. May go to Merry’s next so she doesn’t have to do the trek. if Chris not working and avail to drive that would be fine – i just worry about driving long distances if been up hald the night. From october though, hopefully, it will be less likely to happen due to rota changes. Poor Merry had some maniac driver behind her on way here though.

Anyway, long cuddle and then SB did me lots of flowers with her spirograph, carefully writing hers and my names beside them as we love each other. She is just adorable. Since I had crashing migraine [combination of approaching storm, no sleep and stress] I was slightly out of it, but hopefully managed to get across how lovely it was. The I did crash and chris has done whole bedtime thing – i didn’t even feed BB [though I did lots in the day]

Massive storm – so migraine eased off, but still very muggy. really lovely and long phone call from a uni mate of mine, who we are also meeting up with next week. She is SB and BB’s godmother.

bank holiday weekend

My parents visited- which was nice. except that I was on duty for 48 hours of it!! [and manically busy]

When I got home yesterday we had a very lazy and relaxed garden day. read SB lots of books [ and I think mum read bookcases full the day before] fed and giggled with BB and generally just chilled.

SB did still do a fair number of maths workbooks pages, jigsaws, counting games [ludo, snakes and ladders etc], matching games [dominos and memory cards and snap] colouring and drawing and writing her name on all the muddlepuddle postcards. She’s getting the names of the continents from the globe, a lovely jigsaw or 2 and a new DK globe game which is like snakes and ladders, put a plane flying round the globe and getting sidetracked.

today we nipped to the garden centre and SB fell in love with a shed-house [ and me with a potting shed] we have done lots of gardening – pruning and weeding mainly. Much chilling and reading again. SB still having fun with patterns – this time connect 4, also reinforcing the 6 number bonds [which she clearly knows]. lots of just playing and imagination.

edit – forgot that we started another crystal experiment – time to buy in bulk!

Rather fun, we turned the garden sunshade into a den with prunings. we did weave some through, but SB was so enthusiastic that by the time photos taken, it was semi-rutus [?sp] but i like the word. We found lots of shield bugs on the branches to look in the bugfinder as well. tied in nicely with the new DK insects book I had ebayed….

SB sad as at new nursery, everyone left to start school, so she is starting again. She was very philosophical about it with Mum – which tugged my heartstrings a bit. I do think SB would prob love much of school, but I would hate it to crush her SB-ness!

Miquon rules

Or at least seems to in our house. Got home from work to find maths type books - singapore and miquon liberally scattered over the floor, a magazine from nanna f as well, where she had written out a crossword, and filled in lots of puzzles.

I think SB going through a very dynamic autonomous era at the present, and really diving into learning spontaneously. Oddly, it makes me feel even more disorganised that I haven’t got things at my fingertips for her. Writing and maths are the flavour to savour, though a lot of read aloud history and stories going on. The usborne farm series are proving to be a bit of a hit, with SB just quoting the first page. Certainly a lot of processing is happening.

Through ebay got lots of books coming through in a steady stream, so looked at the usborne through the ages homes and houses, and also barefoot animal stories from around the world [4 of] which we do a fair bit of talking around – geography, beliefs etc. Am trying to have a rest a bit on beliefs, as noticed when swimming that SB said of the life guard to herself ‘she has a cross, she must be a christian’ and felt that this was seeming a bit labelling, and don’t want her to think she has to attatch a label to herself. Sticking to gods and goddesses as plurality therefore, and mostly ancient. Science also a bit of a back burner – Chris has loads of Krampf experiments tucked away, and I really need to get a resource box organised so that we can experiment like mad [sb likes!]

After tea she was again desperate to do some miquon with the cuisinaire rods [which for a year I wondered why I bought them, and now I know!] and was not keen to go to bed until she’d finished a page… and another one!

I used to read the autonomous ‘trust to the process’ type posts, and panic and have deep suspicions, but I see it in action, and it is working. However, I am a queen of listmakers, and somewhere high on the anal retentiveness scale [a former boss recurrently threatened to list me for an anal stretch], so I think Chris and I need to come to agreement on recording the broad brushes of home ed, and perhaps develop my ideas for a broad brush story arc for things such as history, with points for incorporating geography along the way.

Basically trying to predict tangents to go down, and facillitating the resources rather than ‘today we are looking at france’ type arrangements! lso with the piano in another room, we are forgetting about it [like the tv] so I want some kind of game that we draw cards for activities [games, music, crafts, experiments as well as a few readers/workbooks] and then do them [cheating allowed so actually get one she wants to do!] at those lulls, so that it again sparks off using some of the hidden away resources.

Also Chris needs to BLOG! After all, this is his blog [and the flikr is his account too, that I seem to have overtaken. born to organise, thas me!]. cos when she is 5, i want to start some way of recording what we do as we do it with comments on the other things you notice – like increased attention span, and processing info thoughts etc. Like Jan, so that if ever we become known to PTB [and this area strong on that, so anticipate it will be near instantaneous] we can at least be confident in our body of evidence – even if we decline to show it.

Other ponderings, I think i’ve swapped my desires from an eglu to a swallow now where is that fairy godmother???

Catch up – Home ed

Well, its about time I wrote something a bit educational. Sb very good at reading and asking loads of quesitons – so no probs there. Also had an ebay frenzy and books and maps keeping us occupied [and bigly clothes for me]. The cheap globe from tesco a hit. I seem to be addicted to DK eyewitness books though. SB doing lots of drawing, and some maths workbooks regularly, reading lots of things together – with her spelling and saying the simple words. Lots of outdoors when the weather OK. I think we are mostly doing imaginative play though at the moment – dressing up and acting out. SB also very interested in family albums, and getting an idea of historical timeline through family. We didn’t get to finish the jelly, as some jamjars on order from Lakeland. MUST buy postcards this weekend!

BB is definitely into being bipedal. She can shuffle around – mostly backwards to her extreme annoyance. She has started waving her hands – which is v cute. SB adores her – also v cute. even if there is the odd greenish hue around.

My Dad visited on wed, which was very nice. Both he and Chris think I put too much up on flikr so can’t see wood for trees. I don’t care! it is my backup photos, and there is room. I will cut down for the albums. Antway, dad brought me lots of cousin Anne’s geneology things, as I am going to be the keeper. Haven’t looked, as i think I often try to pretend she is still alive, as we only saw each other a couple of times a year. Brief moment there. Anyway BB enjoyed eating Dad’s icecream. Sb shew him everything she can do!!

I am germinating a curriculum plan in freestyle mode for CHris and SB, so need laminator and time, and then they can do dip and dives, with things semi organised – SB not good if no instant gratification!

Anyway, think that is it. loads of piccies on flikr to back it up!

Copenhagen part 2

I was reasonably dilligent at conference, so feel OK about that [a few bits I couldn't face as so esoteric, and a few so marketing oriented, hackles raised on reading program!].

Chris will prob comment on the majority of the time! The other thing I had time for was a nip to the museum of history, with childrens museum attached. I got to do prehistory and the children’s bit, and they then carried on without me. Nicely set out museum, and SB good at them, as long as at her pace, and she chooses what to look at – but we are allowed to comment! In the children’s section there were also clothes of the period to dress in and a viking ship – which she liked, and a mediaeval wall building display – very much liked!

SB says favourite thing the little mermaid – and statues and fountains in the main. we have def done too much greek myths and legends, as she saw a nude and decided it was the mother and baby goddess as you could see the nipples. hmm. Whilst away we have done lot of book reading – both stories and history [viking and egyptian, though she had wanted indian] looked at maps – SB now very clear on what maps are, what they show and how to use them. She had her own map to use, and enjoyed showing people where she had been on it, and how to get to places. We also looked for landmarks as we went around – particularly the interesting towers or coloured houses so that we could always find our way.

edited – Forgot to say that on the walk around copenhagen on tues, after Netto, we were at great park with dragon based childrens activity area – which SB rather liked – can you tell where I am with photos?

before we caught the plane today we had a final walk up the watersedge, and SB had a great time playing with a small kindergarten group and their rather fun and jolly carers. Language no barrier.

safely home – at least we didn’t fly BA. Got an ear prob throwing me out from the flights that I can;t shift though. will rampage around blogring, but perhaps not have time to comment as photos to do as well!

charter celebrations

Huntingdon celebrated 800 years of charter this weekend with the full reenactment thing. So we popped along today.

we expected thre to be a lot of traffic, and not sure about the carparking availability either, so were very early. chris nipped to buy a picnic whilst me ‘n the beans played at the swings [indeed SB's favourite swings!]

We went in and were really impressed by the breadth and depth of the re-enactment [loads of photos on flikr, even when heavily pruned!]. Sb was really caught up in it, asking questions of some of the re-enactors – she particularly liked the felting, musical instruments and bone beads makers. There were also 3 arenas with back to back displays, fights and re-enactments to watch – we watched longbow vs early guns, [so now I know why gunpowder took over, even though useless in comparison for 200 years!], falconry [SB and chris participated] A play set in mediaeval times, and the best of all- jousting! SB not so keen on the loud bangs, but BB slept through.

If anyone can tell me the name of the pegged, stringed bowed triangular saracen instrument ? beginning with s, I would be greatful!

We finished off with icecream. I asked SB what were the best things – icecream [naturally] and the jousting.

We were all exhausted at the end, it was a long hot day, with lots of interest. No chairs, so must remember to take camping chair to next weekend, as hips kill me with too much cross leggedness. i am also sunburnt again – the girls aren’t. SB fell asleep in the car, and hasn’t yet woken up. BB still funny about breastfeedng today – lots of minute snack attacks driving me up the wall. Also not really eaten much solids, and a bit fractious.

SB talking in her sleep, and has just clearly said there is smoke going in my eye. My yes are also stinking, as unaccustomed to all pervasive smoke! SB now awake, and watching me make our diary. hmm, unlikely to sleep again before midnight. oops.

Edited – Hmm, 2 red nose readers, usborne who were the first people, we are now at the 1001 things to spot [usborne history]. We are really doing well on history today!

Turned out sunny – long

Thank goodness things improved. was still bluergh first thing, but some coffee and cakes from the bakery helped. I read inumerable books to SB whilst BB used me as a climbing frame and refused to feed properly. BB then played on the floor quite happily – she likes contingency toys, particularly if they are tuneful!

SB and i looked at the new webland [she had done some with Chris whilst I was still bleugh as well]. more singing of 12345, and dino tales. SB has quite got into the games extra sections. It certainly so far has been worth its subscription. We then played dr’s – SB takes it to new levels of realism by being on call and answering the phone from her bed, getting up and asking whether she needs to drive v quickly or not! I had floppy hand, closed eye and shut ear syndromes [seperately]. BB had scratchy nails!

To cut my blurginess short, I decamped to the garden and the MODHEU. I often find an abrupt change of venue, with limited resources suits me better, and gets me active. For SB I took out some jolly phonics workbooks that we haven’t done in ages, some singapore maths, usbourne story of hercules, DK why greeks built temples, a photo album of when she was BB’s age, her dough beads from friday’s puddlers group and some paints. BB had assorted toys and boardbooks – though mostly she wants to stand and bounce bottom!

had to come straight back in, as SB and I disagreed over the wind strength on the beaufort scale – she thought 6, me 4, and on reading the book = 5! Chris put up arbour seat that we had bought for old house to tempt buyers, but never actually put up. took him all day really. SB periodically helping did not really speed up the process.

We were having such a pleasant time that it was 3 o’clock before we remembered to have lunch. SB took a shine to the JP workbooks, and I was sent in to get the rest, and she drew round the letters very carefully – she is definitely getting interested in writing, so glad ordered getty and dubay. She also wrote my whole name out without letter guides [I did spell it letter by letter though] the H and N were the same and a mixture of capital and small, but i was really impressed, as 2 months ago this would have been unthinkable. Real step forward.

The maths wasn’t for her today, but we read the hercules, and the DK greek book. discussed Greek gods a bit – and the one we have in the garden [Bacchus = parties] and what other ones we should have statues of – demeter, hera as for crops and women and children and a dryad. This was not done in any religious way [to stop palpitations and fainting] as we also discussed the Greeks religion of the time, and that no-one practices any more, and that the gods/goddesses were used as a way of focusing the mind on what was important to a person at that time, and also as a way of trying to explain why things happen. Quite philosophical! We decided that although our house needed a clean, we perhaps wouldn’t divert a river through it, as SB was worried our carpets would be ruined. [she can be very practical when I have a flight of fancy]

Thinking of Demeter we went to the overgrown veg patch and harvested some potatoes and onions. in fact all the onions could do with harvesting and drying, and ditto potatoes [well not drying], or they will get slug damaged. When you next visit, Merry, ask and you shall receive! I dig, and SB rummages for them – a good team effort. lots of bugs spotted – favourite is always ladybird. our elderberries also nearly ready for harvesting and jelly making. [ edit 2 – Actually, while we were there, we could hear the hymns of a wedding – very nice, and then enjoyed the pealing bells afterwards.]

oh yes, we painted some of the dough beads [yes, chris did bake them yesterday] BB attempted to eat one, but foiled. [an aside – just loading photos from today and I took 123 – can’t imagine how – so pruning required before flikr!] In fact BB, although dreadful at milk today, has been one eating machine. Top 2 teeth are nearly through, and certainl noticeable to me after a feed – but not like Isabelle yet.

losing thread now, but we returned to each thing a few times – particularly the JP, and SB was sounding out the 3 letter words [whatever they are called] quite confidently. SHe also drew some lovely pictures in the workbooks, i think my favourite was the r for raspberry, which she painstakingly drew the seperate circles for. Her concentration and detail in art really is accelerating. She ‘read’ to BB, made up songs, princess story re-enactments, lots of climbing frame gymnastics [must sort gym out] and general malarkeying about. Unfortunately photo album a casualty, though photos not.

By teatime she was noticeably worn out, so bath first and then tea. While waiting for the quiche to cook we started cutting out for a mudpud recognisable fabric pennant to put on buggy – not sure what with at moment! SB confident at scissors, and cut oval of pond, and some of the spikes, as well as the easier bits of the duck, and the reeds [well, they were going to be beans, but not really identifiable as such, so reeds they are now!] She did nearly all of the butterfly, but was so big compared to duckling, we decided I should trim it down – a shame really. More sounding out and spelling at teatime, then Mog and shirley hughes stories at bed. She and BB flaked out rather quickly.

When i have reduced photos to a number that are not going to use up ther rest of our allowance, will be on flikr!

edit 1- looking at photos, i forgot to say that we ‘decorated’ BB
