I can whistle

SB is really happy about this latest skill, its a bit erratic, but there is no doubt that she can whistle. We have been practising on and off all day.

Thought I’d have a play day today, so we started off by reading in bed together – umpteen stories! [literacy] and playing with BB, who was waggling nappy free [always a gamble!][childcare and development – lol]. This is paying off, as SB really getting the hang of entertaining BB without being dangerous, and loves the smiles and giggles she gets back. Def fostering closeness I think. This actually took us to nearly 10 0 clock, so a quick breakfast and we then played with the marble run bedore heading out. It has taken SB longer than I anticipated to grasp that the marbles will only run downwards, not jump back up again!

We then headed off to National museum of photograpy etc. in Bradford for a home-ed group imax venture – a 2D grand canyon. We failed to find a parking space so had to run like the clappers uphill pushing buggy [god, how I hate running!] SB found this hilarious. We missed the first 10 or so mins, but they still let us in, and we enjoyed it. the cinematography was at times breathtaking – well the subject is partic telegenic! SB decided we wouldn’t go down in a boat, but fancied the micralite! I fancied the whitewater rafting – but not with SB! [geography]. At one point in the filming I had SB on one knee, and BB was bf lying on other knee rugby hold, and I had 2 of the stewards behind. I wonder what they made of it! Both girls were transfixed though. SB gave me a running commentary [luckily remebering to be sotto voce a lot of the time!] When we left, we managed to go a diff way to everyone else, so didn’t get to meet up – though a brief hello to Sarah in the auditorium.

[aside, SB just down from her bath, and still has rice crispies in her hair! she’s sitting in my whiskey hole [ie where the cat likes sitting] and is watching ‘what the victorians did for us’ [history]]

Anyway, we then had a pootle through the museum. We particularly enjoyed the animation bit, and the studio bit – SB thought the ‘magic carpet’ was particularly good, and seeing herself on telly. We didn’t look at the museum in any kind of structured or ed way, but just let whatever caught SB’s imagination lead us – wierd at times, partic amongst the old cameras. We treated ourselves to a cafe pitstop before going home.

At home we were going to do a bit of a collage of grand canyon images [we'd been discussing it in the car], but I went up to change the poopiest bot in the universe and when I came down, there were cards and sparkly bits everywhere[craft]. Not quite as everywhere ]as when BB of the now clean bot launched herself at a pot of sparkly stars and strew them imaginatively everywhere in the kitchen! the people who move into our house are going to wonder just how glitter and sparkles got into so many nooks and crannies.

[BB now lying in whiskey hole, have had lovely long phone call with my friend S – hello if you’re reading!]

A bit of education city – french which was too advanced for now, but adaptable, and maths. [languages, maths] We wont be taking up the subscription, though I do like it due to the unnecessary expense at this stage. Mind you, SB also gets it worng on purpose to see what actions are going to happen. I think the frequent offer to print off a certificate annoying, as we got through loads of unnecessary paper – ah well, can write lists on the back! Sb whistled some more!

[ aside – In fact, my June list is likely to be a June next year list. A chance remark on an email back from my secretary [!!!] says that compensatory leave [as in day off after a night shift] has been cancelled for consultants due to increased registrars, so no longer resident. now although in the future I will be much happier being on call from home; at the moment I really prefer having the day off afterwards to spend with children, and this day off was half of the compressed hours scheme for a 4 day week – so screwed things up a bit. WHY DON’T PEOPLE TELL YOU when they are changing your job so massively?? So I can either continue on with the 4 day week thing with loss of pay and then not really be able to afford house, or stay at a 5 day week. I can’t now bear either option. So, have decided to blunder ahead and join Gill on the foraged food and beans on toast diet until things improve. If they don’t bugger about too much more, in 2 years we may return to even keel, and start paying off whatever further debts accrued. Ah well. And I budgeted so well!! Obviously this is assuming they actually accept my flexible working proposal!]

Just watched that evolution prog and quite enjoyed it. chris videoed it, as i am threatening withdrawal of tv and broadband – guess which will hit us the worst!

no thoughts again, mad budgeting panics! Comes from being a wanting it all woman. I’m sure it will all settle out. It really is the loss of those days that hits me though. Otherwise, we had a really fun day, and I managed to put it to back of mind. SB really enjoyed the museum, even though we managed not to socialise at all! The day in fact whizzed past.

I like Grand Designs

But am perpetually amazed by things like this and property ladder where people seem to ahve been lent huge amounts of dosh by friends – in this case approx ?40,000. WHo are these people with such affluent friends? And then, having been lent all this money, they do a real design statement with the house, plus unnecesaries, such as a hidden bath under the bed – whats that all about? Where is their pride? they prob could have built framework and then had second hand furnishings and basic bathroom etc without borrowing the ?40000. then done it up as they got the money – isn’t that how most people do it? house did look good though. maybe I’m just ranty as in wibble mode.

Anyway, enough of rants. We had a nice day today – though still recovering from crap lack of sleep, and I’m going to bed any minute. Struggling to remember what we did though.

Oh yes, we did a lovely birthday card for Little Nanny [Mum's Mum] and Aunty Margaret – well in advance cos things are about to get interesting around here! [arts and crafts] I particularly liked the fact that she had such a strong idea of the design she wanted rather than random stickings – it was a window card with ladybirds and feathers.

Hm, oh yes we played memory game with her shape snap cards. pogoing, shops – and wrote a very squiggly shopping list. Also lots of joint playing with BB, so seem gradually to be getting that one sussed! We also did the education city reception level maths [maths]

For the afternoon we went to tots group – they were all very suprised that we hadn’t moved yet, and having said goodbye and got upset about it once, I’m annoyed that I will be doing it again. [socialisation]

Aunty Margaret came round, and SB proudly shew off the memory games of numbers and fractions on Joe the dragon, and did some more of the reception level education city english games. [literacy]. Also played hide and seek, and read a magazine. Also a fair bit of BB cuddling and playing going on. BB is getting close to that Eureka roll moment.

Aunty Margaret also brought me a lovely paperweight with a heart imprint. She is going to be as sad for us leaving, as I am to go. She’s just come back from a weekend at Little Nanny’s, and reported that my offer of welcome and home was well received, but although Nanny was overjoyed that we would think of her, she still isn’t going to do it!

A bit of vegging in front of nick jnr, dinner, bath – without dolly this time, though some fuss over whether she had ‘bath knickers and vest’ on. OK, I prob should have said yes, as no big deal, but lack of sleep makes me less flexible, and she wasn’t that bothered. She’s been more of a pickle tonight over sleep, and come down twice – so has actually watched half of the grand designs prog, and was v interested in the house building. she also was commenting how unlike it was to ancient egyptian house [so is taking things in!] and pointing out various differences and some similarities. [design, history]

Finally settled in bed, I’ve done a scout around the blogring, written this, and will retire!

no thoughts for the day, as lack of sleep monster has rendered me witless!

oh sod it, jsut realised done the whole lot as CHris – though I’m sure you know it sounds like Helen!

Today/Yesterday

Well we did recover to some extent from the shattered night. Sb being at nursery at the morning was certainly helpful. I cuddled and played with BB – who is really showing a personality now. She is a happy smiley girl, who likes boisterous play. It is nice to have this one to one time with her, when SB isn’t the prime focus!

I picked SB up from nursery after lunch to go to Sunnybanks soft play centre with my postnatal group and her friends. Slightly delayed as I had to provide some first aid to someone who had fallen badly in the middle of the road and couldn’t get up! I don’t think anything broken, but knee very swollen, so ambulance to A and E.

Anyway all 3 of us had fun, me chatting and drinking tea, SB haring around with her mates, and BB being a flirt smiling at all and sundry, and being passed around for cuddles. SB is such a chipmunk – she was climbing up the outside of the cagey bits [whatever the mesh is called] and inciting the others to follow. i persuaded her to come down, as although she seems to have the footing of a mountain goat, she isn’t supposed to be there, and some of her friends were certainly a lot more nervous – though they did follow! [socialisation, PE]

On our return we made fresh veg risotto together – SB cutting up the french beans, and peeling and cutting the carrots. Not all the frozen peas and sweetcorn made it in, as she has a real thing about eating frozen veg! It tasted delicious. We also put beetroot in it, as there was some in the organic veg box – really pretty as white and red rings, but didn’t have the taste, and SB didn’t like it anyway! [cooking]. Chris took BB for a walk to the postbox – oh I do like the sunny weather!

We then had a look at education city – already previewd by Sarah and Joyce following June’s recommendation. Yes, we are the sheep!! Anyway, we signed for a 5 day trial of foundation and year 1. the foundation science games we played today were fun and a bit easy. nice butterfly and frog lifestyle game. We also did some of the reception english. SB really improving, she can easily spot first sound, and often last in a spoken word. Didn’t try the maths or french – will perhaps try tomorrow. [science, IT, literacy]

We took dolly into the bath tonight – so floor resembles a flood plain! Dolly not alot cleaner for her dunking, even if wetter. C0uple of books and a Mog CD for bed tonight. BB now being a little bit grizzley at mo in Chris’s arms – having just shown no interest in feeding.

Yesterday Quick Update

i went to see friends and their gorgeous new baby. An emergency caesarean at fully dilated perhaps not the birth plan, but he was over 10lb! Feeding well, though all night and Sarah looks shattered. Start of the great adventure. Explained the ‘this too will pass’ principle – LOL

Thoughts: return to work all too imminent, and not heard one way or ‘tother about 4 days rather than 5. I am not discarding my children like cheap jewelry or robes, but making difficult life choices with my family unit’s best interests at heart.

Blessings and Bright Sparks

Yesterday was my birthday – thankyou well wishers, i had a lovely day.

SB made me a picture frame with a picture of her, BB and me in it, and also a lovely birthday picture with sparkles and jewels. She had obviously spent a lot of time and thought on it, and its very precious. I also had breakfast in bed – very nice!

We had a read of usbournes lift the flap homes – comparing various styles of ancient homes with modern. Also a bit more of the Usbourne time travellers egyptian section. [history]

We visited the SOTP IRL for Jan’s motherblessing. I had bead and poem, but decided my knitting not up to it! The children all got on v well – and there was a lot of noise! Jax, kirsty and Barbara also there as well as others of Jan’s friends. i thought it was lovely, and belly cast stunning beautiful when all glittered up. Thankyou for a lovely day – also for my birthday cake and lovely coffee!! [socialisation]

Today I’ve not seen so much of SB, and really missed her 1000 questions, though did then get to have a really good day with BB attentionwise, and do some jobs!

Chris took SB for a long walk to Adel crags and some rock climbing. I passed for some BB time and catch up – after all she did wake up at 5-ish and had fed hugely since. Chris might blog that?

On return, after lunch [bb on toast] we were all going outside to do gardening. Sb and I talked about various languages, she recognises french easily – the language tilly speaks, and German – and indeed counted to 12 in german without hitch as she was to have 8 more mouthfuls, but got carried away! on asking her to say hello, she said buongiourno [? spelling] – well we are learning a few words for our italian hol on a german run campsite, so a bit of both. We discussed what words she thought she would like to be able to say, and unprompted came out with hello, goodbye, please, thankyou and I am SB. We also decided to learn can I have an icecream. [languages]. This was sparked off by a gift of a german recipe magazine for children from the SOTP crew – thankyou.

BB was happy under apple tree in pram with toys, weather was gorgeous. Chris was banished to shed tidying duty. SB and I were to decide which plants to divide. However the lure of Molly next door was too great, so she spent most of the afternoon next door with Molly helping her weed – mostly relocating worms though from the sound of it! [ gardening] SB is *really* going to miss Molly, as are we. She and husband Terry make ideal neighbours, friendly, helpful, giving etc.

I divided some hellebores, pulmonaria, cowslips and white dicentra. I think I may relocate these spare plants. Also a paeony and a camellia which look ‘unhappy’. I sat on my bench in the shade garden I made[clearing made by my dad] with BB on lap. BB loved the wind and the tree moving, she giggled and laughed. It was nice giving her undivided attention and playing, like I have sat there and played with SB. I cried. Dad made the clearing for me to sit in shade with SB for her first summer. I think moving to me at the moment feels like losing these moments of family history, that SB babyhood will be saying here in leeds when we move. This might be why I am relocating elements of the garden. However all SBs friends and the friends I inevitably will lose touch with are those that have known us in this precious time of my life, and I am so reluctant to let go and grab the future.

So I was very happy when SB rejoined us and gave a display of twirling and twizzling on the climbing frame. [PE] She really is a bright spark. We then painted her volcano on the grass, discussed lava and magma, and had lots of black ash! [geography, craft]

A bit of jostling as I fed BB [who really didn't sleep a lot today] and we did some games on the cbeebies [IT]. Dinner was what chris would call crap food! lattices [shop bought], jacket potatoes and mixed veg. We also had white wine as only enough fizzy water for SB – what an excuse! SB and BB enjoyed their bath together, and SB was delighted at wheeler dealering 3 stories out of me – she thinks she has been so clever, truth is I love reading them, as we lie in bed together snuggled together on our tummies – bliss! She fell asleep while I sang from joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat. Heaven!

Unfortunately our cafetiere just deconstructed with coffee in it, so beautiful coffee smell, but contents strewn over worksurface and floor – sigh!

thoughts for the day: moving is crap, friends are important, children are what its all about. Sun is fantastic, coffee is essential!

just about held it today!

Must get some sleep though, as shattered by bathtime.

SB not so amenable today, and we had yet another troubled night with BB – 2 feeds in the night after a delayed start ‘cos chris woke us both up when he came to bed!

Again an early start, and this time a bit of bailing out, as we watched half of Shrek with brekkie. Ed value though [citizenship] as we could discuss looks not being the important thing, how you can get wrong end of stick from half heard conversations – who am I trying to kid??? We just enjoyed it snuggled up all together on the sofa, and had a couple of throwaway line discussion!

rang my Mum, so we reboiled the fudge – apparently she often has to reboil it – and this time it has set. i think, joyce, that it prob is much more like tablet than shop fudge as not all squish, but sets hard? [domestic science]. SB particularly happy that she gets to do lickings again! LOL.

We had another prolonged nappy change, and although not baby massage, I’m getting better at trying to integrate SB and BB’s play together – we sang songs and rowed boats, wheels on busses etc. SB does love BB, but usually in a rather overly boisterous spur of the moment shouty way. We also played with her rattles, making up stories to keep SB OK – about 7/10 for success, albeit for about 30 mins only. [sibling issues/ childcare and development [LOL]]

We had veg and noodles for lunch – mine had tofu, SB not so keen. And – def shamed head – watched Shrek 2!!!!!

Hama-ed on and off in the afternoon, actually truthfully involving maths, counting, adding, subtracting. Also patterns, shapes etc. [maths], we also read some of the letterland, and did jolly phonics flashcards [literacy]

Tried to interest SB in playing on her own doing jigsaws so I could have a bit of 1to1 with BB, but totally unsuccesful. Ditto the dressing up the paper flower fairies, dot to dotting.

BB had a long sleep, and during that, we had a long go with the DK world explorer, and finished the first travel adventure thing, and some of the sticker pages. [geography] Although I’m not going to pretend SB has huge insight into this, she was getting the hang of continents, and the repeats – USA and China. Since at the moment, my idea of geography is local [when weather improves and we move, we will ‘map’ our area. We did that here for Leeds and she enjoyed it. I’m taking some photos of local landmarks here- ie the co-op, postoffice etc – so we can perhaps do another map and lapbook it, including friends, nursery, gym etc] But I still think dripfeeding the idea of the world, countries, key sites in them etc in a fun way – with no attempt on my part to add any educational snippets – is setting up foundations. I do try and tie countries in with whether I’ve been there, if we know someone from there, if we plan to visit there etc.

now I’ve got completely lost with so many asides?? oh yes, solicitor rang – guess what…….. Still no exchange, as our vendors still not ready – if I roll eyes much more, they may take on vortex properties and suck brain in from behind [prob not be noticeable though].

Hama-ing again when Chris came home – I think he was impressed by fudge! I then slumped on sofa with BB, while Chris and SB did something secret in kitchen. A its my 36th birthday tomorrow, I am expecting that it may be related [craft!]

Spaghetti arrabiata for tea, and SB surprised me by eating it all without any complaints of its spiciness – cos it was quite chilli-ish.
I then set free my TCS self by agreeing that SB could scamper outside without coat etc on although 6pm and cold – door left open for her to scamper back into. Gave me the giggles, as she was practising being a viking warrior with a spear [bamboo cane!] and also beating imaginary somethings out of the cherry tree with it. She was giggling and talking all the while. jumped around so much that although hands cold, she wasn’t.[PE] However, when she asked me to join her, I switched to my TAS mode, and decided it was too cold!

Bathtime, fruit supper, books and bed for SB. More feeding for BB, and relaxing for me watching how not to decorate. i thought living room still entirely hideous on completion! Also feel that they really are too insulting for my comfort level. Had some fudge – very nice!

Good day tomorrow, as going to a mother blessing – must engage mind for poem. Have bead and sparklies, no knitted square though – it would have been a rhombus anyway!

Thought for the day: cuddling and Shrek is as important to our development as a loving family, as studydog or exeter maths!

Rains drops are falling on my head….

A little addition to the day. About 4, after I’d got home from work, me and Stringbean went down to the corner shop (with dolly in pushcair) – only 5 minute walk or so. Weather was ok, though bit cold when we left, just wore our fleece tops, once out of the shop it started chucking it down with cold rain, and even a bit of hail, we were not impressed. SB dealt with it well though and didn’t make a great fuss, cheered on I think by the thought of ‘showing’ mummy her cold hands

We got home bit damp……

Normal service resumed

Thank goodness, as you were all fed up of my ranting/whingeing!

Really didn’t want to get up, as went to bed too late, and BB fed 2ce in the night – unheard of! However, SB was bouncing off walls at only 7.30. Chris off to work.

Decided only option was to throw myself into the day, so we bounded down and had rice crispies, and started making a papier mache volcano. [craft / natural science] its looking v good, but very soggy at the moment, so may be sat/sun before paintable. We discussed volcanos, the dynamic earth centre and its displays, venus, pompeii etc all while doing it, and the benefits of floury water over glue or plain water. SO actually could prob tick lots of diff ed boxes – though most dealt with in one sentence! Following on from that, we looked up volcanos in the usbornes childrens encyclopedia.

In a reading roll, SB then chose the Usborne starting point science on the body [one of her favourites] so we romped through it [biology]. Find the fact that it gets coy after intestines, but can do bladder silly. SB knows that your poo collects in your rectum though.

BB was getting a bit bored of trying to grab the book and feeding at this point, so we all went upstairs for a nappy change and did some baby massage together. SB enjoyed finding bits of bone markings on BB’s body, and where major organs would be – this is difficult due to the scrummy chubbiness of BB [surface anatomy]

A good feed later, and we were all playing magic bus – its a bit like bedknobs and broomsticks, but unfortunately we don’t actually go anywhere, just imagine. So we went ot a volcano, the centre of the earth, the ocean deep and the moon. i’ve noticed the charges are going up though – LOL [maths, drama]. Of course, it does make eye spy a bit more challenging as well, as it could be anything, but at least the first letter is getting a bit more reliable, and we do give clues [ie f, well its probably a fish.....fish]

BB becoming a good sitter now – doesn’t roll over at all, but likes being on her front and makes bottom upping attempts. Her favourite toy is a toss up between a rainmaker and her pudding cube. She likes stuffing things in her mouth. if I wasn’t mean and WHO-ish about this, I would say she is exhibiting classic signs of wanting solids!

When BB fell asleep, we had lunch. SB fancied trying gnocchi, so I did this with olive paste, but not so keen – she did eat a few though. I finsihed them off, and she went for beans on toast. We watched some cbeebies on telly.

Taking advantage of the sun being out – another really variable weather day – we nipped out in the garden and picked a variety of flowers. We have made a flower collage with them. [art] very ephemeral, so I’ve taken piccies. Whilst shredding off petals etc, we looked at stamens, discussed different shapes, and found where the seeds were being made [all in v basic way obviously, but SB interested, so kept on until she stopped asking]. [biology]

We then did about 5 mins of the DK world explorer cdrom [geography] – ours crashes every time you go east, so a bit of a pain. She was still being volcano fixated, so we were looking for them. BB woke up and on getting her SB changed to studydog [literacy] and did one bit.

BB had a nice waggle in her playgym, then went in rocker chair, as on spur of moment, SB and I decided to make chocolate fudge. [domestic science, maths] never tried before, but found a recipe, and gave it a whirl. We have a proper sugar thermometer cos I make jellies and chutnies etc. Hoping its ok. the scrapings from the saucepan were lovely though. Its cooling at the mo.

We have now been doing spot the difference and matching as well as mazes – not sure what I would put them under! [science] prob, as learning to look for differences and similarities, and categorising things.

In dribs and drabs we have sung/danced, played with finger puppets, played hide and seek, played with dollies, so I am utterly exhausted. It has, however, improved my mood no end.

Hearing from the estate agent that our buyers reported we were quite happy with completion date – i had a rant at her! and from the solicitor to say that although our vendors are grumpy about late completion, they are not in a position to exchange, as some searches outstanding, only caused me to roll eyes! Mood still in the positive.

BTW, blogging this early as SB and Chris have walked to local co-op for milk and to post letter. Ah, I have to say, some peace and quiet needed, even if jigging BB and NAKing while blogging!

Not sure what for tea, as a delve into freezer mode – think will be home made beanburgers, sweetcorn and potatoes.

Medicals and Mishaps

I went out for my medical. Actually the doctor that did it was really nice – a single handed GP, at some pains to chat and make me feel comfortable. So although it is inevitable my fatness will bump the premium, he was happy to say I seemed fit and healthy, and he couldn’t see any other risks.

Got home to find the life insurer had sent me a letter as I hadn’t full disclosed my health, could I tell them more about pv bleeding and my IUD!! well, these days they should be called an IUCD or in my case Mirena. I have written back stroppy letter that it was for contraception, no pv bleeding [no menstruation with breastfeeding] and therefore no problem to disclose.

While I was out, our vendors rang to complain bitterly about move date, as we had led them to believe we would want to move in early April. WE DO!!!! chris rang solicitor, as I am prob feeling a bit too incendiary to be allowed! Hopefully exchange will take place, cos we have agreed to date – as if there were any choice! it may add 250 to removal costs – damn and blast.

Did some general book reading [literacy] and playing with SB, also tried out the easier bits of maths on Joe the Dragon [as most above where she is] [maths]. We then planted up our sprouted capsicums, and sowed the tomatoes [natural science]. The weather was being v variable, so we had discussions on storms, clouds, rainbows etc whilst doing this. [as we had all of above]

We found some of the older veg boxes in garage, so SB rooted around for ingredients [she can recognise veg!!] and found onions, potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. We pulled some of the garlic from the garden [it is last years bulbs left in too long, and going for it again, so at the moment kind of garlic leeks!] and made a nice veg curry. SB liked using the pestle and mortar for the spices]. Cooked it in the one pot with the rice so a biryani, as saves on washing up! [domestic science]

We also made some of mums card – it is on cold card and a beach scene using tissue paper, so far so good! Was supposed to have been finished after tea, but evenets overtook us. [art]

Unfortunately, while I was feeding BB she was riding bike on drive [PE], and went head first down approx 1 foot drop onto next doors drive, so sports a number of egg shaped bruises on forehead, eyebrow, and v sore nose. Sorry for self and in pain, but not obviously concussed. We retired to cbeebies on the tv, ate our curry, had a nice bath and to bed [chris doing that at the mo].

I’m watching the what the ancients did for us out of the corner of my eye, and enjoying it. I think I need more wine and chocolate this eve, but my blood pressure remarkably low [100/70] considering the steam that keeps coming out of ears!

thought of the day: happy birthday MUM!! and baby William – see post below

Vax, tonsils and other health related worries

Well, you all know the house moving non-news!

Today, SB went to nursery as usual, then i picked her up at 2 for her pre-school boosters. Now not to get into the whole vax or not debate, I have decided to vax, but am still worried about the sequelae of vax, so hate doing it. Made worse by the fact that I thought it was just the polio lot, but no, the MMR as well. SB was very brave and had her injection into each arm without any fuss at all, and now I will sit out the next 3 weeks hoping no probs – yes I know they are v rare!

Also concerned that she still has huge tonsils and lymph nodes -though undoubtedly not as bad as Merry’s. I’ve noticed she mostly has her mouth open and mouth breathes as well. She doesn’t complain of them though. Its a month since I last took her to GP with the same thing, so am I being a pest if I take her back again?? not sure what I am after. Prob some reassurance that it isn’t some lymphoid proliferation thing. [paranoid mother alert]. She is , however, full of energy and verve, no excess bruising, so can’t really be anything too horrendous.

Came home and did some Jump Ahead maths [maths] 5 more candles to get, but she hates playing that game, so we do all the others instead. Why am I so task oriented that i even contemplated getting candles for her so we can ‘finish’??

Lots of running about in our garden and next goor neighbours now some good weather. She also cycled all the way to nursery, so a healthy amount of physical exercise! [PE]

Other things we have done today are: glued socks – part of an m and s kit to decorate your own socks. They are ‘freestyle’! read a variety of books together [english]; read the whole Egyptian bit of usbourne time traveller [history]. We had a good discussion around the pictures, and agreed that we wouldn’t want to be in a battle in case they shot BB with an arrow – chris and I apparently will have to ring ahead when we visit the pyramids to make sure there are no battles – lol! I also got a bit lost in a metaphysical discussion about Jesus being in our hearts and telling if we do good, and what kind of window he looks through and where it might be. As an agnostic I think I am permanently wrong footed by this, as I walk a tightrope without the benefit of faith or conviction either way. [RE]

We had the left over roasted veg lasagne for tea [still yummy] and brocolli. SB fell asleep really quickly. Unfortunately BB has been really unsettled this evening. I think she must have a pain somewhere that wakes her. Got her to drink half ounce of EBM from a bottle [maybe thats the prob!]. If I can get it to 2 oz then I wont worry re nursery.

Doing a bit of ebaying as well, since failed so far to find black leggings for SB to wear to stagecoach, am looking for uniform or black leggings on ebay. Fingers crossed!

thought for the day: my carpe diem fight lost today, but will try and regain tomorrow.

Cats and Peas

SB seems to be swearing??? When things don’t go quite right, she says ‘oh..cats and peas’. i take it this must come from sone programme or film other children she comes into contact have watched, as I’ve never head it anywhere.

Yesterday was another party day, this time her friend Z. He had his at a church hall, with a clown, so they did some juggling and played with a parachute. Also SB got her face painted as a ballerina. The clown was getting a bit fractious towards the end, possibly due to some overenthusiastic throwing by a couple of the young boys. [more socialisation!]

I did a quick nip to Asda to buy food for a meal I’m cooking tonight. forgot the lasagne sheets, so its going to be a pasta bake! Had a good look, and couldn’t find any black leggings, as she needs some for stagecoach. Will have to go into town then at some point – sigh! Meanwhile SB and BB were out in the garden with Chris, possibly helping shed tidying, but when I got back they were having tea and biscuits with our next door neighbours.

new webland out, so we romped through that, SB though song was dire, and I have to agree! [IT, general knowledge]

On the house front, the contracts all came through for us to sign, and I guess that then makes us exchange ready, and presumably completion ready – at last!!

thought for the day – do not do noisy childs party, and then very full sat asda in succession if you wish to keep will to live!!

PS i have just heard her tell Chris I am a silly old cow. hmmmm time to move!
