project books

i got sb this prehistoric book, it is for 8-12, and can just be read or you can stretch further by doing th project exercises at the back. i think it is a fab way of looking at something in a little more detail with some q and a. in fact a lovely HE project book, as it isn’t set out at all workbooky, but can be used to self assess. we haven’t done much of the q and a, except as discussion, but older or kids who happily write would like it.

so sb fancied another one, and we have chosen this one [narrowly pipping the body one]

I’ll try and show it to merry to see if something fran might enjoy…

  1. That looks like a nice series – will have to remember to show my lot them when we’re home again.

  2. Oh yes, i think that might be quite helpful – thanks :)

  3. We love that range of books. Huge display at Mahers but I’m resisting buying more as she doesn’t ever seem to finish any of the workbooks. Likes them when new but then no interest or difficult to generate interest later on. (with any workbook or “work” with me ATM)

  4. we don’t have much in the way of workbooks, because i would get stressed that they weren’t done! but these are project books, so reading the beginning, and then we can look at some of the questions and discuss!! so i gues we don’t do the worky bit of them, but it is there to change our minds when older.

  5. actually thinking that tag workbooks would be a fun HE game. your kid does some, is bored, and you BK available to next user who does a bit then passes on. with name and location so you could use as a geobug – fab idea!

  6. I hate unfinished WBs. Hannah of course doesn’t give a toss, which is fair enough but it stresses me out. I’m such a completer/finisher and she so isn’t.

  7. giggle, when i did melanie belbin’s score thingy i got 2 for completer finisher. i am a resourcer [or something similar] who starts of well and loses interest. when i told my mum she said she could have told me that without filling in forms – rofl!

  8. I believe that I was a plant. There was a secondary role that I fulfil as well, depending on how the team is playing out, but I can’t remember what that was.

  9. i can’t remember my other one, bt i was mostly a resourcer who gets bored!!

  10. Plant sounds good. Sit on windowsill and drink while watching the world go by.
