stupid stupid stupid me

As have said in Merry’s comments, I have done it again. I am keen for SB to have more language skills than myself, so have been Muzzy german-ing. to supplement that, I bought a year ago some DVD’s from the greman amazon, including sesame street. I thought sesame street would be excellent, with all its letters and counting. The DVD doesn’t have any of this though, just the bert bits which irritate me. ANyway, lets SB hear german spoken I guess.

SO this time, I decided now she has a leappad to get a few in early german – sounds sensible?? On ebay, this chap sells them, and I bought a richard scarry one – ok, and a tad ABC one, which said it taught english. Excellent I thought, ideal for learning german. WRONG. It appears to be only in english – sigh, so I could have got it far cheaper over hear, and in fact think it might be part of a set I am getting for SB birthday. So will need to ebay it – how much I will get as cover in german I don’t know. Also don’t know whether to open to confirm all in english, and then sell it for even less on ebay.

SULK AND SWEAR

I hate forms

particularly mortgage application forms and solicitors forms. they all want the same bits of id, and the first lot haven’t sent it all back. Chris is grumpy and so am I.
SB went to great party yesterday, but said venue was boring. shame as that is where her party will be.
I just hate forms.
ALso, after all this hassle of getting contract done and rejigged, it has been sent to me – word for word identical with last one. SCREAM. [i got job in october FGS]

Melrose

We had a great time. Hopefully Chris will add piccies [edit by Chris – link here removed for now as I want campers to have the chance to ok them first before publicsing outside the camp list]. Nice to meet everyone. Also nice no-one died from eating my curry!!

After a shakey start. SB got into the swing of things, and then it was hard to catch her. Enjoyed the trip to dynamic earth – thanks Kath. SB attempted to drown herself on swimming pool, but showed she can nearly keep head above water now. Mostly got to know people and looked at the various resources.

house update

our offer on victorian house accepted. survey not too bad!!! some diy to be done. Ended up paying more than we had wanted, and on our v max. oh well.

Melrose prep

SB and Chris have made cupcakes, SB and I have made a vegan carrot cake and a normal one [still in oven]. Thats all we’ve done so far, no packing or shopping for foods.

Earlier Mum and Dad left. SB played lots of dolly games, went through the usbourne 1001 things to spot, did some great colouring of viking patterns watched sesame street in german and did some adding games as well as the baking – which she is getting v good at. Also a fair bit of whingeing, crying over nothing and sitting on the stair in a sulk. I think i am going wrong somewhere.

I have also looked at our bank accounts and done a budget [ a bad move to do just before holiday, so will endeavour to forget it until we get back]

We will pro arrive at Melrose only just in time for the jackets, as we excel at leaving the house later than planned!

PS vegan carrot cake now out, and doesn’t look to bad – this is a my made up recipe first time use, so may be only useful for puddings! Have also sorted SB and BB clothes for packing, so don’t need to disturb her in bedroom.

Yorvik

Decided not to think about moving today. Went with my Mum and Dad to York to Yorvik. It was the start of the viking festival today, so bands of child vikings roving around york. We all loved the travelling back in time and juddering [apart from BB], and then te great ride. mine was a bit odd, as BB decided she was so ravenous that she had to shriek so loudly no-one could hear anything, and I had to work out how to BF over the lap bar. After that sorted, it was excellent. SB was free anyway – v good! The museum bit afterwoods I found a bit disappointing, as not much interactive, and some opportunities lost there, so in all we were only in there for about 45 mins max.

so, nipped to m and s and alders. Saw some lovely furniture in the sales at less than half price. a real shame we are not in position to buy [as 1, we have spent too much on next house, and 2, we actually haven't bought it yet!]

SB seems to have collapsed in bed, so we are having a Thai take-out, and sparkling wine to celebrate house sold. Tomorrow we will pack and sort for Melrose.

PS, house gradually returning to entropic state. Must try and halt this!

still no news!

We are apparently still the highest offer, and they can’t quite make the price for their next house with it, so are going to ask the owners of the probate bungalow they wish to move into to accept something lower [as their offer made at the peak] and we will see!
I am obviously dying of impatience. think its 50/50. Emphasised our short and perfect chain!!

SB at nursery, and think I will pick her up and go out for afternoon with postnatal group. I had wondered whether to take her out of nursery for rest of my mat leave, but she loves her friends there so I feel selfish. Also, it does give me chance for a bit more 1 on 1 with BB, who as a v contented baby scarcely gets a look in other wise!

Done lots of housework as parents coming this eve – want them to see house at show house best – well I’ll never do it again will I!

Also spent most of morning talking to financial adviser about increasing life insurance, critical illness cover etc etc, and a policy thingy for BB.

OMG

This mornings viewers have just put in an offer at full asking price – to include greenhouses, carpets and fittings, but lets not quibble! [value of perhaps 2-3000? but its not as if you can easily reuse fitted carpets, and I'd never conisdered lifting the laminate floor - do people do that? We were including shed and one of greenhouses anyway, the other greenhouse we were going to donate to friends, but they will understand]

Sold in 12 days – maybe we should have made asking price higher! Just kidding, as v happy with result, and house down road at 5000 more been on market 3 months [though dated decor]

Chris and I dancing around house, SB thinks we are mad! Where is that champagne!!!!!!!

We obviously accepted, but as don’t have viewers number who is coming in an hour, we will let him view and tell him we have a full asking price offer.

Wooooooohoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[I am excited!]

Grrr Vendors

We went to Huntingdon fri eve to specifically view one house on sat – though we did arrange 2 other viewings while down there. Sat, 2 hours before viewing, they cancelled it! this is 3rd non-viewing, so guess they are not interested in selling. Howeer, would have been my other prime candidate. so fed up! they new we were coming all the way from Leeds as well. Another view of it. I really thought it was a top contender too, so v disappointed

The Victorian house has received another offer, but rejected it – ? too low, or? as they want the person to have sold their house before they will consider. We need to get skates on, and still may not get if someone bids successfully first or they hold for asking price – sigh.

As for our house, we have another viewing today, someone that has sold. ALso the couple from Wed are doing a second viewing today, and are interested. However they haven’t sold their house. Hmm!!

Viking Day

Hopefully Chris is going to add pictures soon to this weblog. We had a great day together. We started with a bit of baby massage, with SB helping me. BB does seem to like it – even though SB’s technique hardly a recognised one.

Then we did almost all the jigsaws that we have. SB loves jigsaws, and romped through them. Must crack open the harder ones!

Having read the DK Viking book yesterday, we decided to ake some Viking things today. We were going to be simple. but arrival of a reversible car seat for BB [ She is 16-ish lb, so already looking big in size 0 carseat, so have bought a britax 0-4years one] meant that we had a huge box. If Chris pops on a photo, you can see our Viking ship with dragon head. I did the basic shell under SB’s direction. She then stuck on some coloured paper, and then went on adventures. Vikings and pirates seemed a bit interchangeable in her stories, but fair enough.

We did some book reading and cooked tea together – a yummy bits and pieces curry, then a burst of cbeebies while wating for Chris to come home asa bit of relaxing time out fr her, and some BB time for me. I feel we have had a lovely day together.

Tomorrow we go down to Huntingdon in the evening and view a couple more places on Sat, as well as the victorian one again. I am just so impatient to sell ours!
